Hello. I am new here. I really enjoy your website.
I am a middle aged white guy in the midwest USA. I first got into Islam back around 1995. At 1st, I read the Quran & could see how it contradicted so called "mainstream" Islam. I used to have alot of heated arguments at the masjids & halaqas, etc. After awhile, I tried it their way, the Sunni way, or, Salafi, or, whatever you want to call it. But, the obvious contradictions in their practice & what the Quran teaches were too glaring for me, so, I eventually faded out of the scene after a few years.
I started reading Quran again lately, though, and, it's so simple & pure & truthful, I can no longer deny its sublime beauty & wisdom. I feel like I am now pretty well purged of the false doctrines & erroneous beliefs of mainstream Islam, and, can now approach Islam again without the extraneous baggage of previous Sunni indoctrination, and, just follow Quran only, as God instructs us.
"Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow guardians besides Him, how little do you mind."
It feels really good to be back. It's like a weight has lifted. I feel kind of like a prodigal son returning home.
All praise be to God, Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala,
Dan
