Zoroastrianism

What do you guys think of Zoroastrianism and its relationship/contrast to Islam? I found this wikipedia entry fascinating in how similar it seems in some ways to the Straight Path we're all trying to live ('Daena' as Eternal Law raised my eyebrows in particular). Perhaps through researching this religion (sifting through hadith-type material and focusing on Islamic-sounding things) which contains elements of the universal Truth God teaches us in the Quran and previous guides, we can find more clues to reveal definitive answers to questions we're all still grappling with, such as salat, etc.
Or something. I dont know, its 1am and I'm rambling.

I have to be honest. I haven't done super-formal research of Zoroastrianism.
But I can definitely see a tie; it does seem like what we now know as Zoroastrianism had an Islamic (by this, I mean submitting to the Creator) root. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Zoroaster was the messenger given to the Persian peoples.
As an Iranian, I have visited Yazd and its Zoroastrian temple. There were many quotes from the Zend Avesta on the walls and they sounded eerily similar to certain Qur'anic injunctions.

I am not so surprised if the basic concept of monotheism can be found in zoroastrianism. Allah informs us in quran that He has sent messengers to their people and some of them are narrated to us while some are not.
I was told that there is similariy of hadith literatures with that of zoroastrianism. An example would be the story of night ascension.

I don't know the correctness though. For those who have done some researchs, please do share your research. The links below might reveal some clues.
