      Salam,

      What a thought provoking question.

"The word ?El? with the definition of God is used in every semitic language in some form except Ethiopic. ?It is
the most frequently occurring name for the deity in proper name throughout the ancient Semitic world .?
(Marvin H. Pope, El in the Ugaritic Texts, pg. 1)

Maybe the Alif-lam is not merely a definite article (like the english "the&quot. It maybe indicative of the power of God and have a higher religious meaning than merely "the" as in "the peace" maybe it is "God's peace?"

If this is so, then in 1915 an angel is speaking and does not need to use the Alif-Lam because it is implied and in 1933 Isa is speaking while on earth and therefore using the Alif-Lam because he's on earth and specifying "God's Peace?"

Please keep in mind that this is just my best guess.

I'm interested to hear other thoughts on the matter.
      Salam,
      Arnab

Is it valid to compare them? One is speaking onto themselves, and in another, God bestows peace. Perhaps it's a grammatical construct because that is what it seems like from the context. I'd love to know.
