Ramadan

Peace.
How is it hypocritical? I believe that if they choose to go that route, then I support them. I believe that it helps them improve their discipline from worldly things like TV and Music that generally people couldn't live with. I personally will be watching TV but I don't see how not watching is hypocritical at all. I wish them the best of luck on their Ramadan as I do yours and all the other Muslims.

Peace to you All,
I think what Ammarb87 is saying that any other time people tend to cut up and do everything in excess, but soon as ramadan starts that's when all the angel"righteous muslims" angel start falling out of the wood work. D
I could be wrong. I call this behavior of those types of people, "the ramadhan muslims" Just keep it real! ;D
You do not have to announce to the world what you are doing to improve yourself , nor should you not attempt to be more mindful of your relationship with God.
When ramadan is over people will most likely go back to what they did before. So be honest with yourself. Strive to please God and do all that you can and just be real about it. No fake stuff to impress the muslims or other people. Like....Bragging about how much of the Quran you've read this month or how many times you did this or that. That is between you and the creator. If I was wrong about that, then it is just my opinion. Have a successful fast. peace
Peace,
Shirley

It reminds me of pretty much every person who follows a religion.
Religion is a scam.
Priest "You are bad boy! your pants too long. You go to hell with rest of your kafir friends!" (in the case of christianity, you're just born evil, so you don't have to listen to music to get a ticket to hell.)Boy "what can I do to save myself?"
Priest "Do whatever I tell you, and you will go to heaven! Rule #1 don't ask any questions because God doesn't like curious little brats. If you do, you commit shirk, go to hell, etc"
Boy "OK, I'll do whatever you say. I don't want God to throw me in hell!!!"
and that's how that little boy turns into Muhammad and conquers Arabia and dies and gets his 72 virgins and a medal for being "God's favorite son...I mean prophet"
But as much as I hate religion (in the modern sense of the word), I don't like athiesm either.
This is what one of the producers of South Park had to say about religion and athiesm
"Jesus's story is one of the most ridiculous stories ever. Why does God only have one son? why does he send him to us...it doesn't make sense. It's bad writing, really. But among all the most wonderfully ridiculous religious stories, the most ridiculous has to be the one that says 'the universe is this giant thing which is expanding and it will collapse and we'll all die. We exist just 'cause."peace!

Peace,
It is exactly what matin said, also we shouldn't judge them. There are muslims, sunni, shia, etc. that are committed to doing good and do not just live a committed life during Ramadhan. We shouldnt judge them, but encourage them to follow their path to make them stronger in their faith and good works.
I do understand what you are saying though, but the same goes for all religions and not just "Sunnis" or "Shias".

Peace,
is no ones fasting here any more? The years before there used to be always a "blessed Ramadhan to all" thread. Didnt see that this year. Anyways, I'm fasting and I go absolutely with bhagat here when he sais
Salam,
its better to try to be a gd muslim in ramadhan,it could serve as the starting point for a life of goodness...its better to start somewhere than never.Salam and God is the best of judges...It is a fact that listening to music, watching tv ... distracts you from coming closer spiritually to God. I dont mean that its haram! but the sense of Ramadhan - as i see it- is as follows
the absence of food during the day, and then only eating little in the evening (!!! very important !!!), together with prayers causes a certain state of mind where you are more open for spiritual experiences. This state is what God wants us to experience because then we get more aware of the real things in life or at least of the other, the spiritual side of life. Now, if you only fast without reading quran, without praying, still listening to music, tv then only half of it can be achieved. I'm going through that right now! I love music!!!! Due to semi-professional reasons i deal with it daily, and its not easy for me not to listen to it, but still I know letting it go for four weeks and concentrating on God and Life and the hereafter is in the end more beneficiary for me.
So i dont condemn music or tv (well, actually i condemn stupid tv shows .... but we shouldnt watch them the whole year through ) but its a fact that it prevents us from getting close to our soul.
WISH YOU ALL A BLESSED MONTH OF RAMADAN !!!!!
Regards

As salamu alaykum wr wb.
Respectfully.Okay, we need to solve this problem of ours
When is Ramadan and how long does it last?
Cuz i was under the impression that it is inside of a Hottest Month and it lasts 30 days. Now, if i missed something, cuz i haven't been on the forum lately, please, tell me.
Thanks and God Bless us all.
As salamu alaykum wr wb.
