    Peace to all,

Well maybe I didnt discover anything but I wanted to get your attention. I would like some opinions on what I think may be an undiscovered prayer request of Muslims by God that we dont do. Let me know if im way off or if you have a different interpretation, remember ive only been a " Muslim for a year and a half so dont laugh.

Ok, While reading the Quran as I often do, I try to think how I can actually apply what God says to do into my own life, to basically serve him as good as I can and according to how he says to.

So while reading 7625 and 26 God is telling us how to pray to him. It says, in 7625 "and celebrate the name of your Lord morning and evening"; then in 7626 God says and part of the night, prostrate yourself to him, "and glorify him a long night through." So what does this part mean exactly? If you think about it God is telling us to glorify him(pray) a long night through( all through the night) and if we ask ourselves what is a long night we can use the winter solstice since it is the longest night of the year right? So what I think is that every year on the longest night of the year, which will be different dates wherever you live, we should be staying awake the entire night once a year to glorify God. So we have the other "pillars we Muslims do but doesnt this sound like something we should be doing also?

Please correct me if im misinterpreting something here, or if imjust reading way too much into Gods words than I should be, im just trying to be a good True Muslim or whatever we call ourselves.

Thanks for your advice and opinions in advance.

    Respectfully,
    Kurt

      Peace be upon you,

I actually do meditate through the night on dec 24th, because the winter slstice is the most receptive time of the year, which means your subconcious will remember more easily what you put in it. This goes for all full moons as well. Regarding the verse you provided, the night is longest from the 21st to the 24th, because the "sun stands still" (sol- sticia).

        Peace to all,

Thanks Idolfree, so does this mean I may be onto something? If it makes sense that you meditate all night at this time of years , maybe thats what God intended for us to do also with this verse?

Would like to hear some others thoughts on this too.

        Kurt

          Peace be upon you Ironsky,

I am saying that I think it is correct to spend the night programming your nafs during Winter Solstice, I am not sure if that is what that particular verse is saying or not. I would think that it would be more specific, but I will not discount your theory at this time.

i personally dont think the verse has anything to do with the winter solstice (dec 21/22?)

              peace and greetings

              Dear Iron sky,
There should be a balance between body requirements and the requirements of your soul. Too much weight on any side is going to be harmful.
The Almighty says in chapter 73 verses 1 to 8,

              1. O you who are covered with your garments.
              2. Stand the night except for a little.
              3. Half of it, or a little less than that.
              4. Or a little more, and arrange the Quran in its arrangement.
              5. We will place upon you a saying which is heavy.
              6. The time of the night is more effective and better for study.
              7. For you have many duties during the day.
              8. And remember the name of your Lord, and devote to Him completely.

In verse 20 of the same chapter
"Your Lord knows that you rise a little less than two thirds of the night, and half of it, and one third of it, as well as a group of those who are with you. And God measures the night and the day. He knows that you will not be able to keep-up, so He pardons you. So read what is made easy of the Quran. He knows that there will be sick among you, and others that venture out in the land seeking from God?s bounty, and others who are fighting in the cause of God, so read what you can of it. And honour the oath of allegiance and contribute towards betterment and give God a loan of righteousness. And whatever you put forth yourselves, you will find it with God, for it is better and a greater reward. And seek God?s forgiveness, for God is Forgiving, Merciful."

We should devote to God at night but not in way that is harsh for our health because God has Himself designed our body and He understands about it more than us.

                Salam.

7625 And remember the name of your Lord morning and evening.
7626 And from the night you shall prostrate to Him and praise Him throughout.

I have also discovered something here.
                Praise Him throughout.
Is it possible that this sentence can have two meanings praise HIM throughout that prayer or throughout the night.
Now, to praise The God throughout the night is long, possible but i'm leaning toward the first scenario, praise HIM throughout that prayer.
Of course, i can praise HIM throughout the night, that is not a problem.

                The God Almighty knows best.

                Salam.

                  peace IronSky,

I strongly recommend reading the following thread which quite simply blew me away

Read from sister Marie's question which is up a bit

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

                    Peace and greetings,

In chapter 51 verse 56 the God says "I have only created Jinn amd Men, that they may serve me"In chapter 62 verse 1 the God says "Glorifying God is everything in the heavens and everything on the Earth; the King, the Holy, the Noble, the Wise."
In chapter 7 verse 205 -206 the God says "And remember your Lord in yourself out of humility and fear and without being too loud during the morning and the evening. And do not be of the careless ones." "Those who are at your Lord, they are never too proud to serve Him, and they glorify Him, and to Him they yield."
In chapter 76 verse 25-26 the God says "And remember the name of your Lord morning and evening." "And from the night you shall prostrate to Him and praise Him throughout."In chapter 55 verse 6 the God says "And the stars and the trees yield"
What i understand from these verses is that things other than humans keep on glorifying God all the time. A human has to serve God by following the human nature designed by the God which is commitment to society as well as care of body health. Human has also got to devote a part of his night glorifying and praising the God according to his convenience i.e keeping his mental health peaceful by sleeping appropriately. In chapter 78 verse 9-11 the God says "And We made your sleep for resting" "And We made the night as a covering" "And We made the day to work in"
In chapter 8 verse 11 the God says "Sleep overcame you from Him to give you peace...."Yes i do agree that occasionally you can stand all night to glorify and praise the God but it should not harm your daily life commitments or your health so you have to complete your sleep the next day. If sleep is not completed your body keeps on building sleep debt(Sleep Debt - sleep deficit caused by an individual sleeping for a shorter period of time than is healthy, usually to accomodate a busy or stressful lifestyle. Sleep debts accumulate over time and can cause mental and physical health problems) which has to be paid back to refresh. To follow the natural laws designed by the God is a part of serving him for which He has created humans.
