What do you say?

Peace to everyone,
About two years ago, a friend of mine stumbled upon the path which he claimed would bring him closer to Allah. He started growing a beard and wearing a taqiyah to emulate the Last Prohet (pbuh), began to favor the death penalty for homosexuals (apparently what cannot be corrected, must be killed) and refused to have food over at my place because it's bought with my mother's income which he claims is haram since mum works in the entertainment industry (not the ADULT entertainment industry, mind you).
Fortunately, I recently discovered free-minds.org and it's people who have addressed most of the issues that trouble me regarding Sunni doctrine. So when I suggested to my friend, by citing Quranic verses and certain ridiculous hadiths, that his source of Islamic law may not be as pure and unadulterated as he thinks, he asked me "Well, what proof do you have that the Quran hasn't been tampered with as well?"
What would people hereabouts say to such a question?
P.S. What's the Quran's stance on people working in the entertainment industry?

If you use the search function in the forum you will find material on this matter as well as on many others. And also if you go the the hadith you will.
My own answer would be if he does belief that the Quran has been tampered, then there is nothing more to talk, of course neither about or about the hadith. If he believes the Quran has not been tampered, then he cannot uphold anything anywhere, be it hadith or whatever that can contradict, compete or stand besides the Quran, because the Quran is the word of God, that God has guranteed, but the hadith are ot the words or God nor are guranteed by him.
There is a lot more to this, but for me basically that is it.
The other thing is that if the Quran convinces him, then that is it, he will decide whether the Quran has been tampered and still convinces him. If it convinces him then the above applies. If he Quran does not convince him, then also that is it, but then he can hardly claim to muslimhood.

Salam curious cat. This allegation of tampering/burning keeps coming up. The allegation arises out of ignorance of Arabic. The question belies a colossal misunderstanding of Arabic words. The term Quran means that which spoken by Allah. Qara'a/Iqra/Quran.
It is not possible to tamper with what comes out of my mouth, how can anyone tamper with what comes out of Allah? How is it possible to tamper with that, that a man cannot touch or exert control over? Please examine your question. Rephrasing your question, you are asking how do you know the words that issued out of Allah have not been tampered with. The very concept is erroneous.
Allah protects his word. Allah is mighty wise.
