    Peace and Greetings,

The Last is absolute attribute and unique which no one other than the God can possess. The God is The Living and the existance of hell, paradise and their inhabitants will be dependent on the "Be" command of the God which could be destroyed out of existance at any time if the God issues "Be" command anytime. So nothing can be The Last except the God.

      Peace and greetings,

      Guest,

Our faith in higher rank, promises of the God, and forgiveness for sins commited out of ignorance is enough to hold our trust. Faith is the driving force.

Peace Abrar, the following verse changes the situation. I need to rethink.

        35-45
        Khalifa
If GOD punished the people for their sins, He would not leave a single creature on earth. But He respites them for a predetermined interim. Once their interim is fulfilled, then GOD is Seer of His servants.

        Yusuf Ali
If God were to punish men according to what they deserve. He would not leave on the back of the (earth) a single living creature but He gives them respite for a stated Term when their Term expires, verily God has in His sight all His Servants.

        Pickthal
If Allah took mankind to task by that which they deserve, He would not leave a living creature on the surface of the earth; but He reprieveth them unto an appointed term, and when their term cometh - then verily (they will know that) Allah is ever Seer of His slaves.

        "Progressive Muslims"
And if God were to punish the people for what they have earned, He would not leave a single creature standing. But He delays them to a predetermined time. Then, when their time comes, then God is Seer of His servants.

          Salam, all,
Recently, the thought of an everlasting hell as contained in the quran has been preying on my mind. I read an article on the Freeminds site which stated that hell is forever and there are no two ways about it! Okay, if that is what the Quran says, I have no choice but to accept it BUT I must get in my tuppence worth!
An ETERNAL hell seems to me to go against Gods merciful nature! I mean, you could be the worst person the world had ever seen (Moses pharoah, Hitler, war criminals etc) but, logically speaking, when you had served your time, you would be eligible to be taken OUT of the state called hell, if not sent to heaven. I mean, how could a person serve eternally for sins done in an extremely short life (however great the sins may be). I hope you understand what Im trying to say. A murderer could burn for a billion years (so to speak) for a murder he committed, but eventually there would come a time when he would have paid for his sins. It would then become unjust to keep him in hell! And God does not punish with MORE than a sin entails. I just dont understand it...
          Any thoughts...?

          Salam.

          Is Hell forever?
This question opens such a long answer. confused

I'm 28 years old and ever since i was 13, i dreamt, planned, hoped and prayed to go to Hollywood and to become an actor.

I stayed away from alcohol, tobacco, drugs and crime in order not to have a police record and to have a good health so i can arrive in Los Angeles clean and healthy.
I never commited fornication so that in case i ever do become a star, fameous or not, no call-girl or a prostitute can say that i payed for sex or demand money from me.
I learned English and spoke it with my brother since i was 13 until now so that when i get to USA, i can speak it well.
Later in life i became better Muslim, i prayed, i fasted, i read The Quran, i wanted to be even better Muslim by getting involved in the movie industry so that i can perform my religious duties even more and better.
I earned some money, i even borrowed some money and took off to USA in order to become a better believer.

          One man appraoched me. elektro
He breaks the rules of his coutry by offering me a job in order so that i can break US laws so that i can get in trouble. elektro elektro
I get deported and banned for 5 long, dark, painful years in which i experienced depression, saddnes, anger, hate, jealousy, poverty, poor health and more depression. elektro elektro elektro

All this becaues of one man and one sentence from his mouth. The whole event took two minutes.
Can you believe it? Two minutes in which he offered me a job, broke US law but caused me to break the very same US law and for that i got punished!!!!!

FOR FIVE LONG YEARS!!!!! brickwall brickwall brickwall brickwall brickwall

Now, you tell me, why this man should not burn in the eternal Hell!?!?!?!?!?
He should burn in the eternal Hell not just because of the sentence he offered me, but because he lies every day, he cheats people out of happiness, he acts arrogant, he thinks of himself as the ruler and the owner of the whole US continent!
This man does this every single day of his career and on January this year when i came to san Francisco, i met him again! brickwall
And again, he did it to me! elektro
Again, he did it to me, what he did 6 years ago! >
He should not burn in Hell for ever, he should burn in Hell twice that! > >

          Why!?
Because these five years that i was prohibited from entering USA seemed to me as an eternity!
I can't travel because of one single, simple, stupid man! >

The God Almighty gave me permission to travel the Earth.
Bush prohibited me to enter USA until February 2016.
I can't even go to Middle East because those stupid men demand entry visas also, just like Bush!

Let me ask you this how long do you think should Bush spend in Hell?
Or that guy at the airport?
          5 years? 10 years? 745 years? 1097 years?
          Tell me.
          I really, really wanna know.

          Peace.

            Salaam, Alen,

Whoa there! I think you misunderstood me. I didn't say that criminals/evil people should NOT be punished. OF COURSE, they should be punished! Recently, I happened to be reading about the murders and abuse of certain children and that made me angry! Those murderers DO deserve hell! And they should burn for what they did! For a very, very long time!

That wasn't the point. I don't know how long the men you talked about should be punished (in the afterlife, that is). Only God knows that so I can't answer that. But I assume your suffering is over now? I don't know, but it'll come to an end sometime, right? So the culprit's suffering should come to an end (even after an "eternity" in the afterworld). At least, that's how I feel, because punishing him for MORE than his crimes deserve becomes unfair itself, doesn't it?

I hope you understand my point. Maybe, I'm not articulating it correctly. Sorry if it seemed I suggested evil should NOT be punished...

              Selam, Zehra.

Yesterday when i wrote that article about Hell, i was a little angry and today i see your point. I mean, yes, it would really be unfair that a person should be punished more then s/he desreved.

I guess all i'm trying to say is this Allah knows best.

              Peace.

                Salam.

I don't know if this falls under this topic but is it fair that a criminal who never prayed enjoys Heaven with me after serving some time in Hell?
Would it be fair that Slobodan Milo?evi gets into Heaven after being in Hell for a while, after he killed thousands of Muslims in Bosnia?

                Peace.

Too much reliance on human emotions without consideration of the faculty of knowledge gives rise to philosophical jargons that leads to such explanations as you have given.

                  Dear Abrar

Interesting answer. How can you think that you can reject/criticize an article without reading or understanding it. Your answers show that you have not read my arguments.

                  Peace,
                  Edip

Peace All, I am having problem with the translation of verse 35-45 (Khalifa, Progressive Muslim, ...) which gives rise to original sin implying even baby is not free of sins. But Parwez translation used the word ?opponents? which implies that the verse is directed towards the disbelievers. This sounds reasonable to me because it leaves room for a sinless human e.g. human babies or a righteous adult. If this is acceptable then we can assert that heaven is guaranteed for the ones who followed the Quran throughout his life. Verse 35-45 (Progressive Muslims) takes this possibility away. Also good deeds nullify bad deeds. My understanding is that the person having more good deeds is sinless (nullified sins are gone for good ? The God?s mercy). Please comment. Thank you.

                      35-45

                      "Progressive Muslims"
And if God were to punish the people for what they have earned, He would not leave a single creature standing. But He delays them to a predetermined time. Then, when their time comes, then God is Seer of His servants.

                      ?Parwez?
In fact there is a time gap between the action and the manifestation of its results. If that was not the situation, and Allah were to (immediately) take men to task for whatever wrongs they commit, not one soul among the opponents would have been left on the face of this earth. When the period of their respite is over, they all will be seized; for this respite does not mean that their misdeeds have gone out of sight. Nothing is out of His sight; He is ever watchful of everything His followers do (1661).

I loved the images! They really enhance understanding. Can you elaborate on what you were stating by those images?

Also, to everyone, isnt right now part of eternity?

I reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaly doubt that hell is eternal, at least for 99.999999999999% of the people. As you said, and as it says in the Koran like a bagillion gigllioion times, god is most merciful. And I am positive that All people of the book with good intentions will eventually rise out of hell. I guess the only advantage muslims have is getting out of hell earlier than the rest.

What zubairh said makes sense and I`m inclined to agree with him but the words translated in the Quran as "forever" are what pose a problem...

                                      Peace and greetings,

These verses clarify the arguments of this post.

                                      Chapter 2

80.And they said ?The Fire will not touch us except for a few number of days.? Say ?Have you taken a pledge with God? If so, then God will not break His pledge. Or do you say about God what you do not know??
81.Indeed, whoever gains a sin, and is surrounded by his mistakes; those are the people of the Fire, in it they abide eternally.
82.And those who believe and do good work, they are the people of Paradise, in it they abide eternally. progressive muslims translation.
