Is our COPY of the Quran authentic?

I have been debating with some people here.... And after that I tell them that hadith are un-reliable because they contain too much lies,fabrications,man made laws and so on.... They switch the question directly on the Quran and their Question is ... What proof do I have that the COPY of the quran which I have in my possesion is authentic??
I do not really understand whay they are bringing this issue on the table.... it seems that, when we touch their cherished hadith books, they feel it so painful that they try to argue on the authenticity of the Book of God also... It seems to me that, since I have rejected the Hadith based on authenticity, therefore I should not be able to accept the Quran also since I cannot verify the authenticity... What they failed to understand is that, I did not reject hadith books and fabrications due to authenticity primarily... but my primary reason for the rejection is because I could not find a single instruction from Allah and his prophet to support these books and practices... On the contrary, I found many verse against it...
However, they still want to debate about the authenticity issue... How I am sure Al-Quran is still authentic... and these words goes on and on on their mouth.. they do not say Al-Quran simple... but they say 'COPY OF THE QURAN'....
My answer to them was this...
482 Do they not then consider the Qur'an carefully? Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely have found therein much contradictions.
So as far I do not see these contractions and I am still able to witness the miracles still present in the Quran such as the maths in the Quran... I do not mean code 19 here... But the simpler maths... Like the number of times the word YAWM is mentioned, the number of times the word SHAHR is mentioned, the verse which says Isa is like Adam etc.... So had the book been distorted, these facts should have disappeared from the Quran...
However, they asked me how I can say that there is no contradiction in the COPY of the Quran when I have not studied the Quran fully yet... They also told me that in one verse Allah says 1 day is like 50000 years and in another verse Allah says 1 day is 1000 years... They try to imply that this is a contradiction and its only hadith and tafseer which are best suited to clarify this....
My understanding on the word YAWM as used in the Quran is definitely different from their interpretations because as per the usage of the word throughout the Quran, it cannot mean our 24/24 YAWM/Day but it is more suitable to translate is as a 'Period of time' such as the verse where Allah says that He created the Heavens and the Earth in 6 days... these days are definitely not our 24/24 Day we have since its is against the facts of science which states that the Earth too billions of years to form... So YAWM is more suitable to be used as a timeframe....
Each creature has its own 'Timeframe' in which it evolves... For example, an elephant lives more that a 100 years... maybe 150years, we find it strange and amazing, but it is its appointed lifetime... whereas a mosquito, from newly hatch to death lives less than a few days.... here also we will find it strange because we find it difficult to 'live' for few days only... but that is appointed life of the mosquito, living a few days mean a lifetime for it... it has been able to enjoy his life and even reproduce and so on...
I have no idea why these guys keep bringing issues like this when they seem not be able to find Quranic authorization for their man made books and ideas....
This was concerning my little experience with the guys around me...
BROTHERS... I would really like to get your views on this especially the 'COPY OF THE QURAN' issue....
Please share your knowledge and understanding...

My advise to you is to focus the debate in one issue, so you can win the debate. The best point to use is the Stoning for Zena.
As you know, they are claiming that there is a verse for Stoning which the prophet did not add to Quran.As far as the Quran, God promised that He will Gaurd it (15-9); and you tell them that you trust that God is able to Keep his prpmise
There are many different ways to debate with them, but you have to keep in minde that if God does not want them to know the truth, no one can.
Just deliever the Message and God will Guide whom He wishes.Please let me know if you need some links to many threads in this forum where I and others have debated with such people.
May God reward you for your struggle in showing the Truth.

THANKS FOR THE NICE REPly.i will reply more later bt i am away and on mbl right now.stoning and qudsi hadiths r definitely the main weapon to beat them in their lies. It wil b good if u can post some more contradictory hadiths. Examples wil defintely b of much help.
