Who the heck is the Samaritan?
-
Peace and blessings on your forum,
The puzzle of today is who the heck is the Samaritan? Why is he called this? Isn't this an anachronistic reference? The Torah states that Aaron is the one who built the golden calf.
Exd 3235 And the LORD plagued the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made.
Then the Quran says
2085 He said "We have tested your people after you left, and the Samaritan misguided them."
The Samaritan is mentioned in the NT.
Jhn 848 Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?
How can you respond to this?!
Peace.

Peace to all,
theres a difference between the one who misguided, and the one who misled the people when moses was gone,, Aron even says he only did what the people wanted him to do.

Peace K,
Lets review the verses..
2085 He said We have tested your people after you left, and the Samarian misguided them.
2086 So Moses returned to his people angry and disappointed. He said My people, did not your Lord promise you a good promise? Has the waiting been too long, or did you want that the wrath of your Lord be upon you? Thus you broke the promise with me.
2087 They said We did not break the promise by our own will, but we were loaded down with the jewelry of the people so we cast them down, and it was such that the Samarian suggested.
2088 He then produced for them a statue of a calf that emitted a sound. So they said This is your god and the god of Moses, but he had forgotten!
2089 Did they not see that it did not respond to them? Nor did it possess for them any harm or benefit?
2090 And Aaron said to them before My people, you are being tested with it. Your Lord is the Almighty, so follow me and obey my command!
2091 They said We will remain devoted to it until Moses comes back to us.
2092 He said O Aaron, what prevented you when you saw them being astray?
2093 Do you not follow me? Have you disobeyed my command?
2094 He said O son of my mother, do not grab me by my beard nor by my head. I feared that you would say that I separated between the Children of Israel, and that I did not follow your orders.
2095 He said So what do you have to say O Samarian?
2096 He said I noticed what they did not notice, so I took a handful from where the messenger was standing, and I cast it in. This is what my soul inspired me to do.
2097 He said Then be gone, for you will have it in this life to say I am not to be touched And you will have an appointed time which you will not forsake. And look to your god that you remained devoted to, we will burn him, then we will destroy him in the sea completely. Here we can see clearly it was the Samaritan who built the calf, Aaron was standing there watching. The Samaritan is a man not even mentioned in the Torah not even in the Jewish traditions. He most probably came with them from Egypt. Were there samaritans in Egypt? Why is he called The Samaritan anyway? What does it mean?
Peace,

Peace to all,
I think i misspoke earlier rami, I meant theres the one who misled them ,the samaritan, and the one who built the calf for them, aaron, when the samaritan suggested to the people to build calf to worship aaron tried to dissuade them apparently, that swhy he said oh my people your being tested, so obey and follow me, but when the people decide to build the calf Arron agreed to do it becuase he says he feared that the people would become divided against the command of moses, so he complied, he broke one command in order to follow an order of moses.
