Can someone explain why 302 free-mind and progressive muslims translation says The Romans have won.
But many other translations say the opposite

same contradiction also in next verse At the lowest point on the Earth. But after their victory/defeat, they will be defeated/victorious.
I aint specialist neither in arabic nor history but for example here (http//www.quranmiracles.com/articles.asp?id=67) it is said that historical materials show that romans were first defeated and then they were victorious.

Why in heavens name will anyone be pleased whether the Pakistanis or the Mongols or the British or the Romans win ? isn?t it the believers victory which is to be expected from all the groups in the world?
Remember there are evil people in all communities accept those who truly believe ? don?t you think?
