    Peace,

Usually the man wont be rebellious because he is one in authority D But if she feels he is wronging her, she can simply inform his and her family and then consult them on how to resolve the problem. If the problem persist and she wants out, she just have to return the dowry and leave. But a man cant do this. As long as the dowry is with her, she is indebted to him to be obedient.

    Peace,

    Rami

    Salaam,

OR men are able to excert physical pressure and so need to check this advantage given to them. peace

      Peace,

OK, I know this subject is sensitive. Forget what I said. Lets define 'nushuz' first. Nushuz to get higher than your normal position. So its like Hyper, Supra or Ultra. How can a husband or a wife execute 'nushuz'??

      Peace,

      Rami

No I believe this subject is very important as it deals with men having strength which may give them authority to use this as they like but this should be controlled.
As for Nushuz I would rather ask you to explain that word as my Arabic is not good.
        peace

If you have read the Quran carefully, you will find that corporeal punishment is the norm. This is also the case in the Torah. Eventhough, prison systems were there at Joseph's time. The Quran nor the Torah uses imprisonment as a penalty for crimes but instead prefer corporeal punishments. So wife beating is just one of them for disobedience, like the lashes for adultery, cutting hands for theft etc.

            Say what? ;D

The woman has every right to defend herself from an abusive insecure malignant narcissist husband use poison, push him down the stairs, stab him in his sleep, or better yet divorce and run off with a real man.

Be disgusted.............but at MEMRI. Just google it and you will find out what it is. You cannot trust anything of what you watch from this bunch of Zionists.

Imagine if they interviewed a KKK member who was saying that the Bible says blacks are inferior etc. and then this was used by a group to imply that all Americans/Christians must think of black people in this way.

I hope you get my point. Spread the message about MEMRI.

                    Peace Salim,
If peace means injusice, so Islam is against peace. Only religions without principle will sell justice for peace. Beating of the wives is only a punishment for disobedience and rebellion, nothing more nothing less. And anyone who will beat his wife out of this context and without performing the two procedures before this, then he has wronged himself and must repent.
                    Peace,
                    Rami

A husband beating his wife is in violation of the purpose of the marriage 3021 and numerous other verses establishing the relationship among muslims.

I invite you to check my argument on this verse in the introduction of Quran a Reformist Translation. Layth too has a similar take on 434.

                    Peace,

MEMRI wants to attack Islam and Arabs to manipulate western opinion. If they read the Torah, the will find it 100 times more violent and viscious. This only shows that the Euro-American-Israeli alliance is just a godless world who only lust after money and lands. Unfortunately, the Empire of Faith is still sleeping. Once it wakes up and straightens. BAM!

OK, but you have to recognise that Nushuz is a violation of marriage too. The husband won't spank his wife for no reason. Hopefully. D

To be honest, I had always thought there was something very suspicious about 'MEMRI', I then found an article in the London Guardian saying it was run by an ex-Mossad and it made sense.

However, I am impressed by the depth of discussion that seems to be going on in the Middle East. Very often the bearded buffoons (have you seen the MEMRI clip of a big, fat, ugly man saying women must obey men when they want sex?!) are in the minority and seem to be considered fools. They have non-velied women and even sometimes atheists (really self-deists) on the panel.

No I am not insane, I want men to control themselves as I believe the surah in question is actully asking men to take steps to curb their anger. No matter what brother Edip says the majority of cowardly people will always believe that they have been given license to hit woman. They need to understand that this ayah is reminding men who are in rage and are about to hit woman to first go through two vital steps which would involve time and effort. This would cool things down and the final stage of lifting hand to strike will never arrive.
                                  As Rami pointed out

                                  Rami

In this case Nushus would represent the inflated stage of anger, which would be deflated by following these two stages before taking any other action. As you know that the Qur'an does not ban doing what we have been in the habit of doing; instead it creates hurdles recognizing the psychology of humans, being that banning something only makes it more popular.

                                  peace

It seem you don't understand the difference between aggression and punishment. The verse doesn't say go and hit your wife because you can D. It is a punishment for the woman for her "nushuz" IF she didn't take heed for the first 2 actions. But why is a wife required to obey her husband you ask?! Because he paid her to pass his seed!! Did you know that marriage we know today is just a bogus fairytale from outer space. The man actually 'rents' the woman to pass his seed. This is called 'agr' or wage. You could aslo rent a woman to breastfeed your child. The only difference between prostitution and marriage is the waiting period the woman should wait untill she can marry another man so the seeds dont get intermixed which could be the real definition of Zina. Thats why God says that Zina is a bad path because it creates trouble later on.

                                    Peace,

                                    Rami

Or maybe it?s a punishment for a man who is full of rage to be asked to hold back and take 2 steps. Perhaps you have seen how men, when full of anger, trying to spare another person, start to hit the wall or whatever to take out their aggression and end up hurting themselves.

                                        Peace Jonny_K,

                                        Peace,

                                        Rami

Yes Johnny, you should really get the difference between aggression and punishment as well as prostitution and marriage !
When a man hits a woman that is not his wife its aggression, if he hits the woman paid for receiving his seed (in this case wife not prostitute, please note the difference!) it can only be punishment...
Funny thing is the prostitute also receives his seed but is paid only for his satisfaction
Did you get the difference ? whatever

                                        peace still...lk

Where in the qur'aan do we have different punishments, for the same offense, based on gender?

Usually the man wont be rebellious because he is one in authority Rami

O yes! They do (if you ean by rebellious commit nushuuz)

"And if a woman fears nushuuz of her husband "
