    Salaam

i like to ask you all here, How did Music become HARAM?
Why or how did music become HARAM?

    Salaam,
In my opinion Music become HARAM when it convey HARAM topic.
Like so many music topic nowadays especially in west countries, lots of them talking about SEX, SEDUCTION, CHECKING ANOTHER MAN/WOMAN's BODY, etc. So powerful this kind of music and so popular till its like an encouraging thing to do such of sin that most people thing "NORMAL", even music that have sound of woman or man in intimate situation and the sadness thing is that those so-called music is so popular and have been listening by so many people.

Music in my opinion is HALAL as long as it contains good topic and HALAL like music to praise Allah, music about the struggle in life, parents etc
    .
But one of my friend asked me, what about Love song? is it HALAL or HARAM?

    Salaam

        peace

That still doesn't make the music haram. It all depends on the audience and the subject of the song. There is nothing wrong with a person loving another person, and there isn't anything wrong with writing a song about that (and singing it).
It's the same for sexual references.
We don't need some book or person giving us some rigid rule or law that we have to live by. We need to use the context of the situation to understand what is the best thing to do.

you say there's nothing wrong w/ sexual references. I disagree. That only leads to disaster.

                Peace

Sexual references in songs are highly degrading to women. Objectifying women in any light, whether it be a song about sex or porn is haram. Even if one does not believe in 'rigid rules' at least show respect to the other half of society. I should add there are songs that objectify men also using sexual references. We as Submitters should live up to higher standards.
                Peace all

Anythings can be haram if so exegerated, but when all of it used to be a vehicle to devote God why not.

                    peace imran,

a couple, singing songs to eachother or listening to songs with "sexual references" is not wrong. And sexual references don't necessarily mean objectifying women.
I know there are songs that do that, and i don't support them.
Sexual references might usually be wrong, but there are exceptions to every rule, that's all i meant.

                          peace imran,

                          example
"you have a sexy body, i want to f you" (if i get banned, you'll pay).
Can you think of no situation where this could be appropriate?
and why can't there be exceptions to rules?

p.s. I'm not as serious as i sound.

If music is harram then David was lying in the last psalm of the book of psalms that is confirmed by the Quran as being sent from God.

                            Read it.

If Music is harram tell that to Cat Stevens who is now a muslim and is going to do a new tour to bridge the gap between the west and Islam.

May God grant your heart His Peace

                                  Peace

Music is a beautiful expression. In no way could it be haram if done tastefully.

Those lyrics you posted as an example, phoenix, are highly offensive so no there is no exception where it would be ok. if someone wants to say that to his wife, by all means, behind closed doors. the whole world doesn't have to know it. there's no need to have a song about it to poison the minds of little ones and make women feel insecure.

                                  Peace all

                                    imran, s2s,
i take back what i said. There are exceptions to SOME rules P
this rule could be one of them.

The situation i was thinking about was behind close doors in a private situation without children and without women who would be offended.
But i guess it's a bit too unlikely for that to ever happen, so... peace

But please understand that i was never defending the lyrics 50 cent uses.

oh no doubt i agree with you. whatever floats your boat as long as both parties are ok with it. i still don't think it should be made in a song for ppl to listen to though...

But i guess it's a bit too unlikely for that to ever happen, so... peace

You never know some ppl are into strange stuff. as long as the husband and the wife are both not offended by bad language being said to them then i don't think it's wrong. i mean of course it shouldn't be an on-going thing even outside the bedroom cuz then that's just abuse in my book. but again, songs are too public and a married couple's sex life is and should be very personal.

But please understand that i was never defending the lyrics 50 cent uses.

                                          peace imran,

a couple, singing songs to eachother or listening to songs with "sexual references" is not wrong. And sexual references don't necessarily mean objectifying women.

                                          Salaam Brother,
I think its not about u as a couple listening to songs with "sexual references" together...
We can not even make a song with "sexual references" on the first place.
If Allah tells us to subdue our sight, do u think He would allow us to create a "SEXUAL" song or music for couples.
Its the same way to say that a porn movie is okay as long as we watch it with our mate (wife or husband) or if we make it for marriage couples but thats not the case. Creating the porn movie on the first place is UNLAWFUL. Thats it.
And do u think when people creating those SEX type of music and those SEX type of movie, they are created for marriage couples only? No, They create it for ALL. Means ur kids would hear it, ur kids would watch it and they will keep those things on their mind etc.
So what do u think about this brother?

                                          Salaam
