    Salaams Br,

    Islaam which is "followed" by sunnis, shiites, etc does not exist in the quraan because sunnis, shiites, etc don't "follow" islaam. What sunnis, shiites, etc "follow" is sunnism, shiism, etc.

    Only one islaam. -)

    You are contradicting the definition the world is giving Islam.

    Islam according to a dictionary;

    Islam includes many religious practices. Adherents are generally required to observe the Five Pillars of Islam, which are five duties that unite Muslims into a community. In addition to the Five Pillars, Islamic law (sharia) has developed a tradition of rulings that touch on virtually all aspects of life and society. This tradition encompasses everything from practical matters like dietary laws and banking to warfare and welfare.

    I agree with you on the point that the islam in the quran is not the Islam followed by the Sunni and Shia Muslims.

    Who are the christians who wrote the quraan?

    Let me know ur views on how & when the quraan was authored. If u have a view.

    Waraqa knew Muhammad for some 15 years,

    When first revelation came, His wife Khadijah ran to her cousin Waraqah ibn Nawfal who was a believer, and had already become a Christian and had translated part of the Evangel into Arabic.

    And according to Christian analysts;

    But what is interesting to me is why suddenly on the death of waraqa inspiration to Muhammad stopped for some 3 years!

    When did I talk about a peg, leave alone "5 pillars"?

    I guess it is easier to make claims than to back them up with verses from the quraan. Islaam with a capital I and a small i -- the funny case of two islaams. I enjoyed it, thanks. -)

    As Islam I have explained above here is islam;

      • The world definition of christian is
        one who professes belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ

      Was it a teaching of the christ that he was god &/or son of god?

      -I agree with you on the point that the islam in the quran is not the Islam followed by the Sunni and Shia Muslims.

      • I am saying that sunnism or shiism is a firqa, and as such does not represent islaam.

      6159 They who make a division in their religion (deen), and become sectaries, have thou nothing to do with them; their affair belongeth only unto God. Hereafter shall He declare unto them that which they have done.

      • Does it make a case for multiple islaams?

      There is only one deen accetable with God al-islaam. And when u deviate from this deen, u have taken up a different deen.

      1095 To you your religion (deen), and to me my religion (deen)!'

      In other words, only that deen which is acceptable with God can be called islaam. Any other deen has nothing to do with islaam, & any other deen cannot be called islaam.

      385 Whoso desires another religion (deen) than Islam (al-islaam), it shall not be accepted of him; in the next world he shall be among the losers.

      6159 They who make a division in their religion (deen), and become sectaries, have thou nothing to do with them; their affair belongeth only unto God. Hereafter shall He declare unto them that which they have done.

      I think it is better to come up with quraanic assertions & challenge world definitions of "islaam" & "christian". Rather than come up with world concept of "multiple islaams" & challenge the quraan. Innit?

      ma'a salaam.

      God bless all.

        Salaam Br,
        Br you have to go by the reality of things.
        If the world calls a certain fruit a ?Banaana? then we call it that .

        • The world definition of christian is
          Quote
          one who professes belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ

        Was it a teaching of the christ that he was god &/or son of god?

        It wasn?t the teaching of God , but we have to go by this definition as this is how people in general understand it.

        • I am saying that sunnism or shiism is a firqa, and as such does not represent islaam.
          Quote
          6159 They who make a division in their religion (deen), and become sectaries, have thou nothing to do with them; their affair belongeth only unto God. Hereafter shall He declare unto them that which they have done.

        Islam in the world is literally taken to be according to the definition given above , by the dictionary so that is the norm.
        Your islam of the quran even though correct according to the quranic detail isn?t what is called Islam in the world.So although we use the proper definition at free-minds , it is incorrect in the real world.

        In other words, only that deen which is acceptable with God can be called islaam. Any other deen has nothing to do with islaam, & any other deen cannot be called islaam.

        If the world decides to give the word a different definition ? they can, who are we to argue.

        Absolutely true. This is about the meaning of the word and not merely about the verbal sounds of a word or what it is called.

        I think it is better to come up with quraanic assertions & challenge world definitions of "islaam" & "christian". Rather than come up with world concept of "multiple islaams" & challenge the quraan. Innit?

        You cannot teach the whole world the meaning according to the quran of a word- its impossible.

        Although if it was possible you would be a new prophet-indeed you would be.

        God Bless.

          simple-

          Well, a fruit was not my concern....still, I think I have presented my point of view. Thanks for an interesting dialogue. Wish u joy.

          ma'a salaam.

          God bless all.
