Jerusalem -- joy of the devil?

Shalim 'Sunset/Dusk' - Shachar's twin and one of the first, if not only, pair of gracious gods, the children and cleavers of the sea. They were born of El and Athirat or her female companion. The new family builds a sanctuary in the desert and lives there for eight years.
Ugaritic religion centered on the chief god, Ilu or El, the "father of mankind", "the creator of the creation". The Court of El or Ilu was referred to as the 'lhm. The most important of the great gods were Hadad, the king of Heaven; Athirat or Asherah (mentioned in the Bible); Yam (Sea, the god of the primordial chaos, tempests, and mass-destruction); and Mot (Death). Other gods worshipped at Ugarit included Dagon (Grain), Tirosch, Horon, Resheph (Healing), the craftsman Kothar-and-Khasis (Skilled and Clever), Shahar (Dawn), and Shalim (Dusk).
The original inhabitants of Jerusalem were Phoenician Canaanites. Jerusalem was originally a village built on a hill. The name "Urushalim is first found on Egyptian statues, circa 2500 B.C. "Urushalim", in fact is a word of Canaanite derivation; the prefix "uru", meaning "founded by", and the suffix "salem" or "Shalem," Phoenician Canaanite god of dusk. This evidence is reinforced by archaeology and by tablets found in Elba, Syria, dating back to 3000 B.C., on which the god Shalem being venerated in a city called Uruksalem is mentioned. The old name of the city Urushalim figures also in the Egyptian texts called Texts of Proscription of XII dynasty 'ws'mm pronounced in Akkadian language Urushalim city of god.
There is evidence that Salim/Shalim or Salem was an Ugaritic god personifying Venus as the evening star and god of dusk who was the son of El. Jerusalem or "Urushalim" is in fact a word of Canaanite derivation; the prefix "uru," meaning "founded by" or "place," and the suffix "salem" or "shalem/shalim," Canaanite Phoenician god of dusk. Hence, Jerusalem means the "place of Shalim," Phoenician god of dusk.
The faithless jerusalem, harlot & apostate, killer & rejector of prophets, a city standing in veneration of an ugaritic god; what delight for the devil.

Peace,
What's wrong with the Hebrew translation of the word...?
Yeru - Place of, Town of, City of
Shalo(h)m - PeaceHebrew scholars and language experts all refer to Jerusalem (i.e. "Yerushalom" as meaning 'city of peace', which is the same definition given by the Jews, both now and thousands of years ago. This is derived from their own language. The Egyptian and Hebrew languages are not the same, and the words have different meanings in different languages and in different contexts...
Peace,
Ahmad

ahmad bilal-Hebrew scholars and language experts all refer to Jerusalem (i.e. "Yerushalom" as meaning 'city of peace',
I don't think jerusalem being referred to as "yerushalom;" "yerushalayim", yes. And it seems that it came at a date later than "urushalim".
There is no town as Biblical as Jerusalem, but it was neither built nor named by Hebrews. Remnants of a Canaanite town called Salem date back to the early bronze age, and the first Biblical mentioning of this place is in Genesis 1418, where Abraham and Melchizedek meet. The name Jerusalem occurs first in Joshua 101. It was a Jebusite city until David overtook it (2 Sam 56).
By the time the Hebrews had a say in it, the name Jerusalem had been long established. Most likely, the original name, that sounded something like Urusalimum or Ursalimmu, meant Foundation Of Shalem, the latter being a known Ugaritic god. The reason why the Hebrews didn't rename the city when they had the chance may be because its name was easily transliterated into something very striking in Hebrew.
I don't mean to offend well-meaning jews, christians, sunnis or shiites, but "city of peace" would be a definite misnomer for jerusalem.

City of peace partially destroyed by god's angel
1 Chronicles; 2115 And God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it, and as he destroyed, the Lord saw and regretted the evil, and He said to the destroying angel, "It is enough; now stay your hand," and the angel of the Lord was standing by the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
What I absolutely & positively like there is god intending & then regretting (read "not fulfilling his intent".
Jerusalem in trouble again
Jeremiah; 3231 For this city has aroused My anger and My wrath since the day they built it until this day, to remove it from before My face.
ma'a salaam.
God bless all.

I found an old article about ultra-orthodox rabbis cursing the participants, organizers and keepers of the gay pride parade in Jerusalem. In a bold assertion, a local rabbi had claimed that when cursed by a qualified rabbi, the accursed may not live out a year following the curse, and had presented the example of a similar execration decades back.
If done by a competent, God-fearing rabbinic court like the Edah Haredit, the people who are cursed do not live out the year, said a Jerusalem-based rabbi who preferred to remain anonymous.
The rabbi estimated that the curse was also directed at Attorney General Menachem Mazuz.
The haredi community is infuriated with Mazuz, said the rabbi.
Mazuz ruled this week that there were no legal obstacles against going ahead with the march.
According to Poppenheim, it has been about 50 years since the Edah Haredit last used the Pulsa Dnura curse.
It was against people who established Jerusalems first mixed-sex swimming pool. Poppenheim said that Gershon Agron, Jerusalems mayor at the time, was also cursed.
He did not live out the year. Agron, who established The Palestine Post, the forerunner of The Jerusalem Post, died in November, 1959.
The desecration of their holy city is pretty much a concern to these well-meaning rabbis, but this time around Shalim seems to be in control.

Jerusalem doesn't mean City of Peace. History is not that cheesy. It means the Abode(Dar) of Salim( a proper noun). It was a pagan god or an invading king. And if it really mean city of peace, this is one ugly scary misnomer.
Peace,
In that case "As-Shalam-Alaykum " is actually "May The Dusk God be upon you all"...
Darus-Salam.... Land Of The Dusk God..Salam / Peace.. oops sorry.. Hail To The Dusk God!

Shalam?
Salaam and Shalem (this is not Hebrew here) are not the same word.
Jerusalem in Hebrew Tanakh is YRSHLM.
There's also a mention of a place called "SHALEM", a city of shechem belongs to the Canaanites (The original Palestinians which is actually more related to the Phoenicians, totally different people than what it is today considered as Palestinians) during the times of Jacob in Genesis.
This town of Shalem was believed to be in different area of YRSHLM, although it is quite nearby and it is now named as SALEM, a town near Nablus in the west bank area. Thus.. SALEM is not equal to YRSHLM just like KYOTO is not equal with TOKYO.
Salem oops Salam / Peace

The Canaanite Shalem is the same one which finds mention in the Bible (Genesis, 141. And this same Shalem later came to be known as Yerushalayim (Joshua, 101), which is Urusalim hebraized.
In all likelihood, the Hebrews had nothing to do with the founding of Jerusalem.

I dont want to sound Ignorant.
But...All of this Linguistic Discrepancy really takes a toll on my head...
It kinda makes ma angry.
Do any of you get angry about this aswell?
Its like Everywhere you look there is a "Problem"... There is a Lingustic "Problem" with understanding the Quran.
There are always Arguments on what Word Actually means What...Mecca, Zina, Hajj, Sallat, Allah ,etc, etc etc...
and if that wasn't enough, Now we don't even have Proper names of Cities? Not even Jerusalem?
It just leaves you pissed off and nihilistic.
I though religion was supposed to be Easily understood?
Do any of you get Frustrated by these type of things...?
Then I ask you...
Where is the True Religion? Where Is the Land? Where is the Truth?
More importantly Where is Peace/Rest? (in your view)

There is no consensus out here over the contents of the Quran (or the composition of the religion of Islam).
If you have been led to peace before, then you might know how to be lead unto it again.
Browning penned, "God's in His Heaven, all's right with the world."

I guess I was just Frustrated when I wrote this because I always had the Understanding that Jerusalem Means City of Peace.
What Frustrates me, Is that How can Words be Known to be One Thing, Yet are Also known to be something Different? Coined?
Is Jerusalem City of Peace or City of Dusk? which one is it? Which one is more Authentic?
This "Word Confusion" is being used in many Arguments in Reference to certain Rules and things in the Quran, Aswell.
It can be very frustrating because, It is leading to more confusion. A trick of the shytan
If you notice in Law, There is a similar type of tactic. Words have Natural Meanings, and Other times, Some or the same words have different meanings only known by few....Its a Corrupt type of System.
For example, There is a Difference between "TRUTH" and "Truth". U.S.A, United STATES, or America.
I know this seems offtopic but I see a similarity... Do you understand what I am saying, or I sound Crazy? lol laugh
Its like Jerusalem=Peace.... and Jerusalem=Dusk.... which one is really true? and why would this happen?

Long before David took it over, the city was called "Urushalim," which meant the foundation of Shalem, an ugaritic god. The name was hebraized, possibly because it made for a pretty cool name in the language of the Hebrews (within Hebrew, the word shalem connotates wholeness). Jerusalem is hebrew anglicized.
It is likely that "shalem," the appellation of the ugaritic god, itself in some way denoted "completion".
I think I understand how pointless the whole effort can appear to be; but if one doesn't try to prove a particular concept right or wrong, it can be fun. I have had pretty enjoyable sessions on many forums, possibly because I don't identify myself with all that I write, much less what I read, while many others get a little too involved. Moral Enjoy the experience. (-

Peace,
I still don't understand the essence of this confusion. Why do ALL Hebrew and Jewish scholars agree that Yerushalayim (often called "Yerushalom" means "city of peace"? Yes, many of them agree that the place was formerly known as "Shalem", but this means peace or complete. It's not referring to any false god, which is why the name was kept and adopted by the Israelites after they captured it. In fact, the Hebrew Gemarra actually says that the name Yerushalayim was given to the city as a combination of the name given to it by Shem (the son of Noah) and Abraham.
The land was, according to many historians, originally occupied by the Cana'anites. Perhaps this is true, and it does appear to be very likely. However, based on the surrounding civilizations within this proximity, it's also very likely that the Cana'anites spoke a language (dialect) very similar to Hebrew, just like the Arabs do today. Therefore, "Shalem" could very well have meant peace and completion in their language, as it does in Hebrew; it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with any false god or religious deity. The origins of the word itself, being "shalem", seem to be based on a separate dialect of the same language, much like the difference between saying "shalom" and "salaam" - they are the same word, just different dialectial pronounciations. And in a close comparison, any Arabic speaker would say that it's foolish to say that "Salaam" was originally the name of a pagan false god. Even if it was (hypothetically) the name of a false god, that concept is completely irrelevant today, since it means something entirely different today, as it did during the revelation of the Qur'aan. The exact same is true in reference to the city of Yerushalayim when it comes to the Jews...
-
You are looking at the word within the Hebrew parlance, in which case it is agreed upon that it should refer to the hebrew "shalom" or "shalem". But the city traces its roots back to an earlier time, when it was "Urushalim" and not "Yerushalayim". Thus the emphasis shifts from shalom to the ugaritic god Shalem (possibly the evening star, venus).

I dont want to sound stupid... lol
But this kind of thing reminds me of Allah.
it is supposed that Allah used to be the name of a Pegan moon good. Also, it is said somewhere on the Form that Allaht was also used.
I know that Kaffars use this argument to conclude that Allah therefore has pagan origins and the Islamic religion is false...However, What I use in my Argument is this.
Just because If "hypothetically" A group of Arabs made 360 Idols around the Kabba, and Worshiped a Suprie God Named "Allah" and Attributed the Moon to Him...That has nothing to do with me or my faith becase of two reasons...
1)The moon is a Physical Thing, that Occupies Space,Color,Mass, Dimension, and Viability. (Allah Does not have any of these things, since He is Not Bound by Physical Limitations)....and The Moon is made subservient to Us as stated in the Quran Along with the Sun, Stars, Trees, Water, etc...
- Just because Someone Now Decides to Use the Quran for "Evil" purposes...does that make the Quran Bad? Just because Some Group of People Decide to Call their Moon God "Allah" or "YHW" does that mean I can No Longer worship the God of Abraham? No.
In face, Its not only the Moon. Actually , "YHW" "Allah" and "EL" where all ALSO used to Worship Saturn. Jordan Maxwell then said, Every time your Praying or worshiping,...Do you know your worshiping Saturn?....My reply.... "Surah 112...He neither begets nor is begotten" and Allah is above All of His Creation.".
I Agree with Ahmad Bilal's Stance. If it is WELL known and Agreed by Billions of People both Anciently and Today, that Jerusalem Means "City of Peace"...Yet there was a Small Minority who believed it is a Pegan Name for their Pegan God...Who cares...
Who is stronger us for them. For instance, I Love Saying "Alhumdulilah". Just because some group of people Say that Means "worship Mars, Saturn or the Moon".....I m not going to stop because in my mind...It means "All praises to Allah
Jerusalem to me means Peace
But here is my Question. Allah Says that Many of times...He has Destroyed Many towns, and Brought back new ones....and says He has made even the Deadest Pagan People...Submit and convert.
Could it be a Possibility, Jerusalem was a pagan area, but them -reverted?
But One last question.... what about the Name... What Name was First? Dusk or Peace?
-
This is not a hypothesis after the manner in which non-Muslims propagate rejected theories of other non-Muslims. It is a view that many Jews and Christians themselves hold.
Which brings me to your last question The origin seems to go back to the god Shalim, and this is also the view of Encyclopaedia Judaica (if you think it has any say on matters related to Judaism).
