You know, I have this book - I'm working on reading it. It's pretty pricey for such a small book but I think it's worth it.

Yes, indeed; it is prohibitively pricey. As if it is deliberately priced to discourage people from reading it. As for the book review link, it did not open. I was asked to save it in my computer, which I declined.

        Peace,
        Edip

Please use the link at the bottom (and not the picture link). Its a PDF file so you will need Adobe Reader.

(Can I mod kindly remove the link from the picture, thanks).

            Peace Edip,

That is not true, Palgrave-Macmillan is always expensive with university books.

And the link goes directly to the download function, where the PDF is downloaded or opened. It is a safe link. Here is the bookreview on my Blog

I think Aisha is somewhat underestimating satellite television. Especially Egyptian Tv is doing a very good job in bringing about some change. Gamal Banna I think is a very important player and you could say he is single handedly changing the religious discourse in Egypt. Egypt as we know is an important player in the Islamic world. He is not a Koranist but he has now become a regular face in many Egyptian satellite TV and he opens up subjects that was once taboo.

Its just the news network like Al Jazeera and Al Arabiya is not doing anything. I am also not hearing much outside Egypt. Many reformist write books which is very good with the intellectual class but many of these very same intellectuals don't have the guts to go public. But I am seeing real changes in Egypt, at least in its TV shows.

Yeah agreed, the same is happening in Turkey where more people are coming on TV.

By the way, did you see those pictures of women and men praying side by side and all mixed up in a huge crowd, praying together in Egypt? Is all over Facebook.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.
