I suppose it could be as we say "Its clear as day".

It doesn't say "Waqadh wa inshaqqa.." But "Waqadh inshaqqa..." in lanes. And in the quran "wainshaqqa alqamaru" without the "Waqadh".
Does that make a difference?

The Arabic word "inshaqqa" (split) used in the above verse is derived from the word "shaqqa," which can also be used to mean "causing something to rise, ploughing or digging the soil"

I do not think that this was a prophecy, at the moment. If someone could break this verse up for me, I'd be appreciative.
At the moment, I think a translation might be "And the hour draws near and the moon has risen".
The hour means death. The rising of the moon marks night. God says our souls are taken at night. Am I making sense?
That's what I got so far.

I am lost as to the responses on this thread. I will just add however that the moon is used as a timing device according to its phases. Some of them "appear" to us on earth as if the moon has been "split" or a piece has been broken off.
I am offering no explanation of the verse, just some thoughts.
oon is not only earth's planet but as reflector of sun's light. It can be regarded the qiyamah will take place when priests or preachers are splited in interest.
