What came first: Revolution or Revelation?
-
If you mean "revelation" as in the Quran and "revolution" as in the change of thinking due to the Quran (in 7th century Arabia) or as in following the Quran alone, then I'd say revelation, since there is no revolution without a revelation, since the ideas/concepts come from the revelation. It inspires the revolution.
If you meant something different, then clarify it.

Peace Wakas,
?Simple question (or is it? ) What came first Revelation or Revolution??
I am assuming you are talking about human being and not other things such as Jinn.
And the answer is Revelation of course. This may have been the first commandment/the first revelation to Adam.
719 - "As for you, Adam, dwell with your wife in Paradise, and eat therefrom as you please, but do not approach this one tree, lest you fall in sin."
Here is the history
238 - We said, "Go down therefrom, all of you. When guidance comes to you from Me, those who follow My guidance will have no fear, nor will they grieve.
237 - Then, Adam received from his Lord words, whereby He redeemed him. He is the Redeemer, Most Merciful.
333 - GOD has chosen Adam, Noah, the family of Abraham, and the family of Amram (as messengers) to the people.
Even if you consider this event the first revolution ?3869 - I had no knowledge previously, about the feud in the High Society?, it had to be in violation of a commandment from the God. Thus, a revelation always comes first.

Yup,
One needs a revelation first, which inspires the revolution.

Definitely "Revelation" came before "Revolution" , reason being that without knowledge and "Idea" people's way of thinking would have remained backward and accepting of their fate . Revelations inspire people to change and improve their lives not in a gradual way , but through drastic changes in societies where the fiercest resistants would invariable come from the 'establishment .
For this reason alone , I concluded that all the prophets/messengers were "revolutionaries" of their respective eras , each prophet/messenger was a leader of a revolution who successfully led their people towards a free , equal and just society . Those prophets and messengers would not have encountered so fierce resistances from their respective communities had the 'revelation' they received and preached were all about changes in performing rituals .
I believe that one of the most important message of god's revelation is that we should strive to achieve the best out of this life in orderly manner and to teach us how to be human , even though we were all born human being . Civilisations seem to go hand in hand with the people who followed and lived by the revealed knowledge ( many people will disagree with this view ) , and the other field of sciences that arise out of the revelation . Personally , the most important thing I got out of the "revelation" is that I freed myself from "mental shirk" and with that my outlook on people and life itself .
" Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery ; none but ourselves can free our mind " ( Bob Marley in Redemption Song ) . I am sure that this song was inspired by knowledge of revelations and the desire to change the world through different kind of revolution ( peaceful road to freedom ) .
The Power that be fear the people who follow god's revelations , for they know that every single one these people can be a leader of a "revolution" for freedom , justice and equality wherever they are , and for this reason alone , 'the established power' will try to sabotage any movement that encourages people to study and follow the revelation from god , from within the movement itself and from without . Yes "Revelation" came before "Revolution" .
