What do you mean by "basic human rights"? They have the right to eat, drink and not get killed for sports?

Actually most human rights are basic. But there are some exceptions for men and women. Not that man takes the right of the woman or the other way aorund. Sometimes there must be apparent inequality for the hidden differences between men and women.

    Clear? P

      Rami,

What do you mean by equal rights? They both have different roles in society like night and day. They complete each other.

"Men" and "women" don't complete each other. Every useful and productive individual in a society contributes to creating a complete and prosperous society.

Lets give an example, men can marry multiple women but women cannot. Here unequal rights for you. Why? Because they are different physiologically.

Myth. And it's common knowledge that women have more orgasms than men so using your argument, it's women who should be allowed to marry more than one person!

Wake up from the idiocy of feminism which is destoying the basic family unit.

What's so good about the "basic family unit"? I'm not the kind of person who thinks that women should subjugate men, that the male population should be reduced or any of that nonsense, but I believe women, like men, are individuals and should enjoy individual rights.

No actually. What are these "hidden differences" that you are privy to?

For example, a man can have multiple wives but a woman should have only one at a time. Apparent inequality for the greater justice. Man gives the seed, woman recieve it.

Why do I talk like this?

But hey it is much better right?

Peace and welcome to the Forum

women had no rights until islam came along... if a women was a prophet in those times she would have been killed

When was the advent of Islam and why would women prophets would have been killed ? Do you think the god would be un-able to protect them ? What evidence from 'The Qur'an ' regarding women prophets never existed ? I am asking you these questions because The Qur'an only mentioned very few of them and considering that this earth of ours is so old and billions of human have come and gone .

              Peace

Unless we know the way to recognize the male prophets in the Quran ,how we can recognize female prophets.

Being a prophet is not a "right". And islam did not start with prophet Muhammad.
and male prophets were not killed? How about those mircaculously saved (almost all) by God?

Profets are exceptional persons. Even if we were to assume that no woman had been a Prophet, men as a rule are not Prophets, so wShat does the bullshit about essential differences between men and women have to do with Prophecy?

Prophecy is not a desease that is same-sex transmitted. Men as a sex are not Prophets.

So if there must be a discussion on this, let some reason and common sense come into it.

                    Salaam

Simply because the prophet will almost always have men as his primary audience. A woman won't be in a good position for prophethood. Actually that would be very harsh.

Multiple wives is a right? Even getting married at all is not a "right" if you know what a human right is. Never heard a verse asking us to give charity to someone to get married. In fact, the qur'aan tells those who cannot afford marriage for financial reasons to not ask for money/ to not beg/keep their pride until God helps them.

This is only applicable if you look at someone who is getting forced to get married. But if a married woman ask if she can marry another man, I will tell her 'You don't have the right to do so'. She will then ask 'But my husband has another wife, why can't have a husband too?'. Your reply is 'Male and Female are different'.

Not having a right means its forbidden to do so. So human rights are allowables.

I don't think you understand women. There's nothing extraordinary about women, but at the same time, they're not as simple as you think. Women, like men, are complicated and of all kinds and it's hard to generalize them.

I understand most of the women I know and most of them understand me, one man.

Where did you get this "forced to be married" from this part of the verse?
I am talking of "human right to marry". Where does this right exist?
And yes, you do not have the right to take a woman who belongs to another man, and a woman does not have the right to take a man who belongs to another woman.

No they are not. Polygamy is not for the sake of men not satisfied with one woman, but for the sake of fatherless children for whom God made an exception to bring them back to society through a righteous man who will give them a name, even if he is married.
On the other hand, motherless children with fathers do not exist , so no need to find a solution for them in a married woman.
