Maurice Cotterell is an interesting author, who has explained some interesting phenonema that explained how was the Maya wiped out from the face of the earth, while all along they predicted this event to a high degree of accuracy.

It all has to do with the sunspots, read his synopsis and concentrate how female fertility is affected by sunspots.
The moral I suppose is that man knows the regular day to day laws such as Newtonian laws, and maybe if widely read Einsteins theory of relativity but there are possible more that result in a certain outcome.
Hence, special cases such as you or me being here is quite possible as a result of a little bit of this law and a little bit of that.
