There was a teacher/lecturer from Oxford who said the Hadith is completely ridiculous and has no basis or truth. Can anyone tell me what his name was?? I want to see if I can get in contact with him...

I did some googling for you. There is someone called Taj Hargey who they brought on a show on Channel 4 called The Quran. Apparenly he was on BBC's Panorama too.
According to this, http//www.megamosqueyesthanks.com/Refuting-Taj-Hargey.html, he rejects hadeeths and he is the chairman of MECO in Oxford which hosted a lecture by Edip Yuksel. So you might want to contact Brother Edip about this.

      Peace

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

I saw a documentary (probably the same one) with him in it. I was hoping he was more mainstream. Seems like the only Muslims who talk sense are unfairly marginalized or truly crazy.
