      Wakas;

Is sky everywhere used as feminine or there are some places where it is masculine. Would it not be advisable to mention those places.

Pl reconfirm me that it is II; I always remain confused with these chapters.

Can you clarify the male occurrences so I can check them?

Yes, both occurrences in 5327 are form 2, also according to Hanna E Kassis' Concordance of Quran.

Actually I had requested , if so, then would it not.............

Anyhow I quickly glanced the books and found that some mention about 7318 there it is masculine.

I struck through "masculine" because the verb conjugated to the first person (singular or plural) does not differ on gender basis.

              Peace,

There is this instance where the sky (= alsama'a) appears in the masculine.. in surah # 73. Al-Muzzammil ayah # 18

The heaven will break apart therefrom; ever is His promise fulfilled.

              peace

7318 singled out; though against both nominative feminine noun is mentioned. Perhaps it was singled out considering, as is mentioned in dictionaries, as masculine; and "feminine" is typing error.

                    Peace Mazhar,

Could you also find any other masculine occurrence.

Actually, I did not look it up in the Quran. It is from my memory and just popped up in my mind since you started the thread but I did not have good access to internet till today. I cannot recall anywhere else in the Quran where the sky (= alsama'a) appeared in a masculine but I will try to find out.

                    peace

There is no other place where it could be considered masculine. And even at this place it is difficult for me to digest the opinion of many that here it is masculine. I request Sister Samia to look into this critically with that why it should not be considered with reference to Yaum instead of sky and solve the mystery.

I couldn't find "samaa'/the sky" as masculine in the quraan except in this verse. The phrase ( ) has two masculines in it the pronoun embedded in the active participle "munfatir" and the pronoun suffixed to the preposition "bihi". The later refers to the "yaum".
Linguists say that "samaa'" can either be masculine or feminine, but this is not supported by the qur'aan where "samaa'" has regularly been used as feminine. I am more inclined towards the few who believe that "munfatir" is one of the active participles that does not have a feminine form, such as "7aamil"; "3aaqir", "waluud"; "mu3Dil (complicated)"; "ghadoub"; "3abous". ....

There's a similar situation in this verse here
                        5420

Where we have a similar participle "munqa3ir" in the masculine form describing the feminine "nakhl/palm tree"
