I guess if you think about it, quite a number of religions are syncretic.

Yes they are.. as matter of fact; all religions are syncretic..

I'm going for the "peace, luv, tolerance" syncretism among the three monotheist religions we know today though. I've only heard of Baha'i trying to unite that. Well, there's also Chrislam.

Remember there are also a choice of not choosing any religion..
They call it "secularism" / 'non-sectarianism'...
I vote for non-sectarianism which promotes peace, love, tolerance, non-dogmatic open-mindedness, justice and mercy..

      Salam / Peace

Obviously for me the Quran is the criteria for the other two, but I doubt any Jews or Christians would get on board with that.

I and my church are getting there. We look at both the bible and the quran

          Peace,
          Respectfully.

Are there any other people in your church where you preach who also believe like you, if i may ask?
I'm just trying to get informed.
          Sorry for being noisy.

          Peace.

They all do, we are only a small church and as the minister it would be difficult to attract people that do not agree with me. laugh Every one of them are God-alone and would love to see the religions of this world come together.

Good remark. You should also add Judaism and Christianity to the mix. As you will see the references in Manifesto for Islamic Reform, many Sunni teachings and practices are imported from the Judaism and Christianity. Remember stoning to death, circumcision, veil, rosaries, celebration of holy nights with candles, etc.

              Peace,
              Edip

I don't see the point of trying to make a new religion out of the two but I can appreciate a christian church like Rev. John's that identifies with an God alone view of Jesus and his teachings and being open to include quranic verses in their services. Perhaps christian congregations like these may help lead people to revert to God alone islam, or at the very least clear any misconceptions they have of islam.

btw, here's a neat film I was watching today about how muslims and christians view Jesus

That was a wonderful movie! I enjoyed it. What a wonderful expos? of the hypocrisy of the traditional Christian belief of the life of Jesus. I especially liked the part about how God will say to Jesus "did you tell them you were god?" and, of course he will say "No" (because he never did) so all the traditional Christians will then find out that Jesus was human and only human, which is what Muslims, Jews and God-alone Christians have been saying all along.

Has anyone heard of this new religion started in Nigeria? Chrislam is a mixture of Christianity and Islam

Religious groups all over the world try to mix different religions. This is just another example.

                    peace peace peace

I think, you misunderstood me. I was just thinking of the syncretic religions that try to fuse the three well-known monotheist ones. Was not talking about my personal beliefs.

It's quite easy to set up a religion. Just throw together whatever you think people need and they'll come. At one point in elementary school I'd unintentionally set up a cult and got my form teacher to accuse me of future deliberately nefarious deeds. I think the word she chose was Jezebel brickwall brickwall brickwall

I can see how some atheists think religions are a joke.

I highly valued "wisdom teaching" but all sectarianism is a joke...

Jesus, Abraham, Sidharta and many others teaches wisdom but they don't create / found a religion / sect..

I don't think it's a smart investment to do this.
But it is a good step that they took, i hope they are looking for the things that Islam and Christianity have in common, God willing and maybe, God willing, they will arrive to The Truth that there is no god but God.

I always say that the only thing we and Christians disagree about is the true identity of Jesus and the crucifixion and once we discuss these things, most arguments will stop, God willing and Love will prevail, God willing.

Most of stoning and stuff come from hadith. Even if traditional Christians (Trinitian Christians) reject jesus's divinity they would still be sunnis. (since sunnism is plagiarized from the bible.)
