    No longer a Sunna-rejecter

Well, I never really had a faith. My mother believes in God but didn't want us to grow up in a religious family because she had that when she was younger however I have always had a strong belief in God.

Thankfully, she is fine with me converting. She sees the good changes in me and she sees how happy I've become. I don't think a lot young people who have converted from other faiths have been so lucky.

    Why did you convert?

I am no longer a Sunna-rejecter. See 4:59-65, 62:2-4, 3:31, 4:156, 7:157 Messenger teaches and is to be followed and obeyed. Examples of revelation received which is not in the Qur'an: 3:123-126, 33:37, 2:187, 66:3, 62:9.

      Why did you convert?

Well, actually I went to church with my Auntie from the age of 8. It's your typical "Black-led" pentecostal church and I used to be convinced that there was a God because everyone would be "getting into the Spirit." Also the fact that at the end of every Sunday, the preacher would say those who didn't come to the front and pray for forgiveness would be doomed to Hell forever- and we didn't know if we'd wake up the next day, did we? At Sunday school they would go in extreme detail of what they thought Hell was like. Enough to scare an 8 year old I think.

In the end it was my father who converted to Islam, following the Qu'ran Alone. My parents are seperated but he used to come and talk to me and my brother (who's on this forum as well) about it. I never used to listen but one day he gave me a Qu'ran and I thought Why not?

It really opened my eyes and I immediately felt a connection with God, one I didn't feel when I was at church because I was just going through the motions. Eventually I started to doubt the "Christianity" preached at my church and left, accepting Islam, thanks be to God. My mother was accepting as I said, the rest of my family don't actually know I'm a Muslim now, though they have a feeling I think. But they'll believe I've been brainwashed by my father. I'm actually waiting for the day when I'll wake up and find myself at the front of the church being prayed over...

I think I posted my story last year when I first joined Free-minds... but I haven't been on recently due to exams etc. But it's nice to meet you all again

      peace

Muzhar! alhumdullilah you are very lucky to have parents who did not force you to learn Islam like a parrot and introduced you to it discretely, bravo a lot of credit goes to your father who did not dump you to the mosque at the mercy of Imams and this shows his immense love for you. So I pray pr there are more loving and caring fathers like yours sun

I was born on 28th October 1995...And when I was four years old I knew about God! I was never brainwashed and I asked a lot of questions to my father. He was always very liberal and god alone. I entered primary school when I was 6 years old. thats when the brainwashing began. I wasn't effected by the "hadhis syndrome"

When I was 8, I secretly started to read free-minds.org articles that my father printed and kept in his file. I didn't understand much of it but after a few years I discovered the fakeness of traditional islam.

Thats how I started to think and use common sense! pr

                                  I'm thirteen now! yay

Munzir, wow -13 years old?!!! That's really cool! You are on both my wife's and my facebook pages and we had absolutely no idea you were so young. You are so definitely on the right path, I see big things for you in the future - keep up the good work! Amazing how God guides us all at different paces and ages, you are definitely head and shoulders above where I was spiritually when I was your age (but don't let it go to your head! lol) peace
