On those who believe and do deeds of righteousness there is no blame for what they ate (in the past) when they guard themselves from evil, and believe, and do deeds of righteousness (or) again, guard themselves from evil and do good. For Allah love those who do good.

all verbs are in the perfect past tense

is in the present tense

The question is about ta3amu
they ate, "they" is for
what is your understanding of the verse?

I wouls translate it by

On those who believed and did deeds of righteousness there is no blame for what they ate,

when they kept/held faith, and believed and did deeds of righteousness

then they kept/held faith, and believed

then they kept/held faith, and become better

Allah loves those who do good

The question is about ta3amu

The word is "ta3imu".
And yes, it's the question, if we translate it as "ate".
I searched for another meaning, and I found "ruziquu earned", which I find more relevant to the second part of the verse
From Maqayees-ul lugha

As I understand it, " they are not to blame/to be embarassed if they earned a lot as long as they bestow security on others (aamanuu); do good deeds (3amaluus-sali7at) and give charity (a7sanuu) ".

which use the verb RAZAKA!

the well known formula
would mean then not only "feeding" but then could mean any kind of help (money, food, clothes)
Good to know a lot of people think for example during Ramadan the ill one should feed the poor!

the other interresting point I will have to look for is about AMANU = they bestow security on others (aamanuu);
Do you know any other verse where it is used as "bestow security on others " without ambiguity.
Because I always thought it means "to believe" like in "Amnanu billahi wa kutubihi wa rusulihi, wa malaikatihi wal yaum al akhir".

I mean they seem very similar no particule bi or min (e.g amanu min khawf)

Also, do you think all occurence in Quran of would mean "bestow security on others "?

when they returned repenting and believed and did righteous acts;

afterwards they mindfully restrained and accepted then afterwards remained cautious and heedful avoiding unrestrained conduct and they behaved moderately and generously.
