    Greetings and Peace, all group

    My comments in red

    Here is the problem with "time travel";

The universe dies instant to instant, and it gets reborn like so (mentioned in quran, also a point of study in quantum mechanics). There is perhaps a single set of changes that define the difference between two instants. So this means the ONLY thing that exists is this moment now. The information about the past is all encoded in what we observe in the present moment.

Will you please provide surah for reference? The ?perhaps? statement does not logically lead to ONLY. A better turn of phrase might be IF and ONLY IF a single set of charges define (etc)...THEN this means (etc).

Now to go back in time would require that you perhaps observed all the changes reversing themselves, and perfectly so. The problem with that is that all the changes that form a single forward step in time by nature have a probability of 1 in 1 occuring but as a direct result of that, the probability of all the changes reversing is 1 in infinity, i.e. 0.

Why accept an unproven statement as fact? IF what you write is true, time travel would seem to be impossible for us. The IF has not been proven.

In essence, ALLAH does not ever go back on his word, and for what reason should he? Letting us time travel back so we can eat that extra portion of chips with salad this time round, versus keeping all the zillions of stars balanced, be serious!

To my knowledge, Allah has not forbidden time travel. Do you/or anybody else have knowledge to the contrary? Unless there is evidence that Allah forbids time travel, if it can exist then there is no reason why it should not. If it cannot exist, then the discussion is frivolous.

Now, as for photons moving faster than the speed of light, they don't. All matter obeys the speed limit of information, of which the speed of light is a direct result of. The phase velocity is allowed to exceed the speed of light because it's not a real speed in a sense, no information is transferred. The attraction of light is explained by the fact that black holes cause curvature of space around them.

Um?scientists accelerated photons to 310 times the speed of light in the year 2000. Here are a few references. If people are mistaken about something so fundamental, what else are we taking for granted?
    https//physicsworld.com/cws/article/news/2810
    http//www.cbsnews.com/stories/2000/07/19/tech/main216905.shtml

There is something called a geodesic, which extends the concept of the shortest line between two points to any kind of space you think of. A black hole makes all the geodesics point into its event horizon and light as a particle always follows the nearest geodesic.

Light behaves like both a particle and a wave?and we neither know everything about it nor anything else. Take a sheet of paper?consider it to be one light year across as a thought experiment. What is the shortest distance from edge to edge? Now, fold the paper in half, edge to edge. Are the edges closer now? This is one example of how faster than light travel may, Allah willing, be possible some day.

Having said that, there is a possible method that this could be possible. It's called the Alcubierre metric, look it up. If you flew away to the edge of space faster than light then looked back upon earth with some stupidly powerful telescope you could observe the past. However there is no changing the past once the light has made its decision. And remember that ALLAH is the light of the universe.

There are a several possibilities postulated (including Alcubierre drives and wormholes), and Allah willing, more theory will come about.

    peace

      Peace,

Here is a quote from one of the articles you referenced

"This effect cannot be used to send information back in time," said Lijun Wang, a researcher with the private NEC Institute. "However, our experiment does show that the generally held misconception that 'nothing can travel faster than the speed of light' is wrong."

Now, I couldn't find the exact verse I was talking about but basically it's one in which it says that ALLAH recreates the universe instant to instant. It reminds me of the concept of wavefunction collapse and re-establishment. Rest assured that this verse does exist and I will eventually find it by the will of the almighty.

The reason I say time travel is impossible is because the speed of information/truth is a fundamental barrier that shall not be breached. It's the speed of ALLAH's execution of his plan, if you will. If you want to time travel, you must go faster than ALLAH's command in some way or other.

Also, there are no unprovable statements but only logical inferences in my post. It is logical that the most likely thing to happen is indeed what will happen. I say perhaps because I'm very careful with my wording and I'm not here to mislead.

As for what you said about light, that's exactly where the notion of a geodesic comes in. Do keep in mind that while physicists may not have the guidance of ALLAH, they are forced to work with pure objective truth for their equations to make any sense. And the objective truth comes only from ALLAH.

There are many verses in al-quran where it clearly says that the universe is made with truth and it has been created for the separation of truth and falsehood (211. If you could go back in time, you would be able to modify what is objective truth and what is not. Then what is the point of the judgement day that ALLAH promises us?

My understanding is that time travel is impossible from now till judgement day. After judgement day, because we will be immortal, there will essentially be no such thing as time - the way things are for the rest of the universe already. With every birth comes a death until all dualities are reduced back to the unity (i.e. all truth and falsehood is separated).

        Greetings and peace, all group

Does time travel (if time travel is possible) contradict truth? Just because we ~think~ we know an "endstate" doesn't mean that it (the perceived endstate) is absolute--relativity may be involved.

Let me put it another way Do you believe that the endstate of a successful time travel would surprise Allah? The question is absurd. Truth would still exist--only human perception was violated/deceived.

To us, truth is largely limited to our knowledge and perceptions. These limits mean that our knowledge of truth is limited, except as Allah wills. Because we can't see the "big picture," it is possible that truth--through human perception--is subjective and not objective. Truth belongs to Allah alone, except as Allah permits.

If time travel is possible, it is not immoral/haram. Is it possible within the laws of science and nature that the Allmighty has laid out--that is the question.

Pardon the pun, but I doubt that we'll be seeing time travel within our "time."

        peace

Time travel would only be with ALLAH's permission. Under no circumstances do I deny that it is POSSIBLE. However, possible and FEASIBLE are two very different things. To discuss something like this is only going to go into vanities. Like I said, there is a reason for judgement day. Surely the infinitely merciful ALLAH would allow the disbelievers to go back and fix up, but that doesn't happen.

Perhaps you're trying to express some kind of feeling or perception related to the concept of time travel. But as soon as you develop an understanding of what time is, it's clear that there cannot be time travel in the classical sense of going back to a certain date and getting up to no good.

However, the nature of reality is such that there exist an infinite number of copies of everything (it's just the way that infinite information/energy works). You could potentially observe a worldline such that you jump from one copy of earth to another copy somewhere else in the data structure, I guess that this is what you mean. And al-quran has an answer for that -

5533 -O assembly of the jinn and the men! If you are able to pass through the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass through; you cannot pass through but with authority.

OPF, I think that we are in agreement. handshake

I think that time-travel may be possible. In the same breath, I'll state that I don't think that even if it is possible that time-travel would be plausible/feasible/worthwhile. The knowledge may lead to more fruitful knowledge though.

              handshake

I do believe that this is an incredibly fruitful avenue to explore in physics. One of the things that most results in fruitful knowledge is trying to understand why we can not do something. In physics, any differential equation can be solved if you have good boundary conditions. You have a law, that says this is that, but the law only makes sense when we apply the limits to it aka boundary conditions.

So in the search for why ALLAH does not allow time travel in our time, we could potentially open up the channels to real time travel! And this is an interesting verse that will clarify

740 Those who have denied Our signs, and reacted to them with arrogance, the gates of the sky will not open for them, nor will they enter paradise until the camel/twisted rope passes through the eye of a needle. It is such that We recompense the criminals.

My understanding is that as I said, believers in paradise will have access to time travel perfectly because time only matters when there is such a thing as death. However, those who do too many bad deeds have their Bank of ALLAH account in the red, perhaps for an eternity or two. So when an object bigger than the hole it is trying to get through can go through it, the avenues of time travel will be opened up to those in hell.

I'm thinking that when you feel the heat of the sun, that is the energy that's piling through us. A lot of this heat is equivalent to the feeling of burning pain. Perhaps the disbelievers will have to experience this energy that manifests itself in many ways but as burning pain, in order to pay off their accounts.

If something can be thought about, it is possible to get it or do it.

So, in thoery if speeding up faster than light could make us infinite (beyond time and space) it must equally be possible to achieve it by being still.

                    Salam and Peace, everyone!

                    ===========================================

A woman does, what she does,-----to be young forever,-----but one day everything is gone.
Only an old face with wrinkles is left.
                    ---Time-stricken!---Oh!

                    TIME?????

                    TIME-----tames everything!
                    OH TIME!!!

What is the reality of time?

Man, (not lions, tigers, cows, goats, etc),---so, man has always wished to know the reality of Time.
He has always wished to tame Time.
He has always wished to control Time.

                    He never wish to die.
He never wish to become old and weak.

But Time is the most, ---the most undefineable phenomenon in the universe.
Because, no one, but It is Allah Who created Time.

Time is eating up the new born baby.
Time is eating up the whole of the universe.

Time has not been given a body.
                    But there is Time.

                    What is Time?

                      Salam,

As long as Allah permits it, and we have the technology to break out of the current practical improbabilities , i dont see why it should be impossible. But this creates a problem in the testing procedure that we call life. So Allah may not allow us to travel in time just because its possible, may be he will end our show before we ever reach the time when we are able to practice the theory of time travel.

And for obvious reasons, Allah knows best.

                      May Allah guide us all

the wormhole theory mainly makes u travel backwards and not forwards correnct me if i am wrong

and time travelling is possible in 4 th dimentions only not in 3 dimention so we cant time travel but yes we can see images of past it can be possible in 3d

and the stars we see explode really did explode in past we are seeing it now
