I was on another forum and the debate lasted an entire Month!....
heres how it ended (Conclusion)...."You believe in what you believe and me what I believe"
When It all comes down to it...I think its all a matter of Interpretation.
Those Against the Natural Hashish Marijuana Opium Cocaine (leaf form)Mushrooms and Salvia,
All use the Quranic Prohibition of "Intoxicants" Ayat to Support their claim.
They say "Anything which covers the Mind/Intellect"They also say, a Ban is needed since it can be unsafe for the Society, and There are Many Other natural Remedies to get the same if not better Effect without the Hallucinogenic/Drug-like Consequences.
They also use the point that This Body is a temple and should not be tainted with those drugs.
Those Who are FOR Marijuana,Hashish, Natural Opium, Cocaine (leaf form)Mushrooms and Salvia
All use the Quranic Vereses that talk about Allah giving Plants and *Herbs to people (as stated above),
They Use the verses that talk about the different plants that grow on earth.Some Even use the Bible Verse That talks about the "holy Mushrooms" to support Hallucinogenic Mushrooms and also use hadiths to use these and other natural drugs.
After an Intense Argument (a Month Long), it ended up like this....
Those Who LOVE natural drugs (cocain/opium/mushrooms/salvia/marijuana,etc)
All decided to Continue and used Quran to help them.Those who Abhor natural drugs(concain/opium/mushrooms/salvia/marijuana/etc)
Stuck to their Guns, and used Quran to help them.As far as the Legality of it goes... Drug users say its "Unconstitutional" (un-quranic) to enforce a Ban.
The Non-drug users would probably reply...The Quran Encourages Goodness and Community Protection from Wrongful Activity in which will result in the harming of One'self or the harming of people around one.There is still not a Common Consensus nor a Conclusion yet.

Don't take 'cannabis', let's take 'knife' for example..
It can be used as a tool to prepare food and it can also be used as a tool to kill other people.

Like alcohol, cannabis has its medicinal benefits but the harm outweighs the benefits.
The difference between intoxicants and a knife is that intoxicants can end up controlling you and your mind. -
I think anything can be used for good and bad...but there are just somethings that shouldnot be used...
For instance, Magic...many people in America think "oh its okay Ill use "White" magic because it is "Good"....
When really there is no "white or Black" magic. Magic is Magic.Marijuana is Glorifeied Often and manipulated by many.
For instance, MANY people say "oh, but marijuana is So Economical, and So good for making Products"...That really is a manipulative tool. because It is NOT the Marijuana that is so "Economically Good" Rather...It is the Hemp.
The Hemp plant is a Sister Plant of Marijuana. Almost Identical in the family tree, It Contains all of the Amazing Properties of Marijuana yet Ironically the Only missing Component is is missing is THC.
Hemp contains NO THC and you can smoke as many pounds as you would like without getting High. its simply grass.So, Many use the Good economical Points of Hemp...and use it to try and Persuade others to then Legalize Marijuana. (because they both are almost Identical plants except for the THC part)

Hemp=Good
Poppy Seed=GoodMarijuana=Bad
Opium=BadCocain=bad
(other plants that are close to the cocaine Coca plant that don't have the same Properties)=Good.Salvia=Bad
Mint=Good.... (key Note, Mint is a Herb that is family to Salvia...and Mint does not get you High)Mushrooms=Good
Amnita Mushrooms=Bad...BlueBerries=Good
Poison Berries=BadPotato Plant=Good
Some Sister Potato plants=Bad (they can kill you make you starve to death)See....ALLAH DID make very distinct Plants.... Some Are Good and Some of their Sisters are bad...

Nonsense.. There's no such things as 'bad (or good) plants'.. plants are just plants..
Opium are commonly used for anesthesia and pain-killers.. and yes there are legal plantation of opium as well.
