    Salam for all.

Here I suggest that we translate 'Allah' word in the Koran as also 'Allah' in English.

    For example;

In the name of Allah, the Almighty, the Merciful.

    Peace.

I think he means using the word Allah instead of translating it to God

I wonder why since "Allah" means illah (God) or am I wrong. (I don't really know Arabic)!!

63 Wa huwa allahu fee alssamawati wa fee al-ardi...
= And he is "allah" in the heavens and in the earth...
= And he is the god in the heavens and in the earth

"Allah" is a contraction of "al" and "ilah", so it literally means "the god", which can clearly be seen in 63. If a proper noun would have been used, it would not have made sense. Let me quote Ayman (from this thread)

Those proper names London, John, etc. do not speak the truth about the entity being named. They are just meaningless labels. So if you say "he is John in the heavens and the earth" this is meaningless nonsense. On the other hand, if John was the only man alive then you can say "he is the man in the heavens and the earth".

I am no longer a Sunna-rejecter. See 4:59-65, 62:2-4, 3:31, 4:156, 7:157 Messenger teaches and is to be followed and obeyed. Examples of revelation received which is not in the Qur'an: 3:123-126, 33:37, 2:187, 66:3, 62:9.

I come with this idea after A Sunni/Shia etc asked; why we don't use the word 'Allah' in the translation.

The second thing is, what about Al Ilah? I'm not expert in Arabic but I think it also means 'the God'.

Peace. If I wrong then fix me.

Wouldn't have anywhere near as many people reading it if it was just in Arabic. I think God is just as good a word as Allah

                                  Salam,

All languages were created by Almighty God. I think not really an issue. The most important aspect is the understanding of the word God itself for all humankind, whether in Arabic, English, Chinese, Indians, Africans, Japanese, Germans as long as God in terms of Tawhid or Oneness of God and no others to be associated with. Everybody will understand that.

So, not gods such as god of the sea, god of the rivers, god of the jungle, god of the mountain. Those are only human assumptions throughout history and their false dreams and not even exist. They themselves also never saw with their own eyes whom they say god. It's just their illusion and false intrepretation of their surroundings. That's why they translate their assumptions through stones, wood carvings or even monkeys and cows just to show their stupidity. With this Almighty God, wants man to be above all other creations.

That's why Almighty God send down prophets and messengers just to correct and align in precision the mindset of all humankind on this planet Earth so that they know the existence of Almighty God through the messengers and also to the evidence of beautiful creations of the universe.

                                  Wassalam.

                                    And your reason?

God can be used for any diety/god, or tacked onto another word to change the meaning Godmother, Godfather, Godson, Goddaughter, etc.

As well, we see in the Quran that Allah does not condone the use of other names. An example is YHWH, the Canaanite god whose consort is Ashtoreth, is used to denote the worshipers of that pagan god Yahoodians/Yahoodu. Surah 2111, 2113, 2120, 367, 518, 564, 930
                                    YHWH
                                    Jew
"Ibrahim was not a Jew (yahoodiyyan) nor a Christian (nasraniyyan) but he was upright, a Muslim, and he was not one of the polytheists." Surah 367

Personally, I use the name Allah as it is written in Surah 11
"In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful." Surah 11
                                    "Bismi Allahi al-Rahmani al-Raheemi" Surah 11

Allah knows best. Study the Quran diligently and be not dependent on my opinion.

                                    Peace.

To me wether you call Allah Allah or Rahman is the same surah 17 ayat 110 and i think that same rules applies to using the name God also to Allah belongs the most beautiful names surah 7 ayat 180 but what's important is purity of belief i.e right understanding of God..
Islam is the way for all nations not just arabs..every nation knows God in their own language it's just up to them to find the right concept
i find no problem with it calling Allah god there is no haram to this wich i find in the quran, ilah is the equivalant in Arabic to the word God in english
Allah says Allah hu illah wahid = Allah (is) God One. look at surah 4 ayat 171

                                      (&#1633
O People of the Scripture, do not commit excess in your religion or say about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to Mary and a soul from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers. And do not say, "Three"; desist ? it is better for you. Indeed, Allah is but one God. Exalted is He above having a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.

                                      another surah 21 ayat 25
                                      (&#1637
And We sent not before you any messenger except that We revealed to him that, ?There is no God except Me, so worship Me.?

Allah is God of mankind Surah 114 ayat 3 an-nas(mankind)

another surah 9/31 (buduuu ilaahanw-wahid)worship God one
                                      (&#1633

They have taken their scholars and monks as lords besides Allah, and the Messiah, the son of Mary. And they were not commanded except to worship one God; there is no deity except Him. Exalted is He above whatever they associate with Him.

this isn't just saying worship Allah but saying worship God

you see what i'm pointing out now that Allah calls himself ilah and it isn't wrong
                                      i hope this helps
and please don't just take my word for it it is up to us all to look at quran and verify things ourselves

I use Allah, I feel it is the best name to use for linguistic and historical purposes. However I understand that to a non-muslim the name Allah can seem foreign and appears to them to be a different god then the Judeo/Christian god (even though Arab Jews and Christians say Allah).

I heard a debate on a Christian radio show about is ok to use the name "Allah" when ministering to Muslims. Most of the callers said "No" because Allah is "The god of Islam" and different from the biblical god. Even when Arab Christians called in saying that they say "Allah" and their Arabic Bibles say "Allah" (Just look at the inside of the Bible in any Hotel room and when it shows a sample of John 316 from every translation they have done, you will see in arabic Alif Lam Lam Ha - Allah) they still said, "NO!"

                                          Peace!
Let's suppose that the Quran was revealed in English!
And Arabic is a world wide technological language spoken by many nation, including this Forum.
Then we will have some who would suggest it's far better to keep the word GOD as it is, and not translate it to its Arabic form "Allah" which is understood by all Arab speaking world!

                                          Regards
