What does Quran say about good? What about the doers of good? Muhsineen?

Good is derived from the root

Ha-Siin-Nun = To be handsome, make good, seem good/beautiful/comely/pleasing, be excellent, make or render a thing good or goodly, to beautify/embellish/adorn a thing, strive or compete in goodness, to do good or act well, act or behave with goodness or in a pleasing manner towards a person, confer a benefit or benefits upon a person, act graciously with a person, know a thing well, beautify/embellish/adorn oneself, reckon/account/esteem a person to be good/beautiful/pleasing.

In the Quran we are told God made us in the best form (954, 327, 643, 2314)and that we are tested for the best conduct (817, 117, 187, 672) We are also told that the Quran gives the best parables to learn from, it is the best hadith, the best teaching and a glad tiding for muhsineen (see 123, 2533, 3923, 3955, 4612)

Furthermore we know the best ?deen? is one who asalam who is a ?muhsin? and follows the way of Ibrahim (see 4125, 4133, 3122) this involves righteous deeds and good speech and that is what a muslim is (or part of)

    1. Muhsineen are loved by God and are close to/with God
2195 God loves the muhsineen (don?t destroy with own hands)
      3134 God loves the muhsineen
      3148 God loves the muhsineen
      513 God loves the muhsineen
      593 God loves the muhsineen
756 God is close to the muhsineen
16128 God is with those who TQW and doers of good
2969 God is with the doers of good
313 guidance and grace upon the muhsineen
469 those who follow Allah + Rasool God will give blessing/an3am

There are not many actions/attributes in related to muhsineen.
(The following verses are exclusive to muhsineen
    2195, 2236, 258, 3134, 3148, 585, 593, 684, 756, 7161, 991, 11115, 1290, 1222, 1236, 1256, 1278, 2237, 2814 , 2969, 313, 37121, 37131, 3780, 37105, 37110, 3934, 3958, 4612, 5116, 7744)

However, while one may think this is vague, we know muhsineen means doers of good. Who could be a better law giver than God; 550? So the question is what is good, what does Quran say is good?

5924 To God are isma alhusna

      A thought,
If the best hue/colour is with God and to God is isma alhusna and we are asked to call on God. Could it be that if we adhere to the isma alhusna i.e. not just utter/call on God with the names but partake/uphold them would it be like experiencing a connection with God, being close/understanding God?

      Peace

          Maybe

Another interesting observation is that with muttaqeen there is more emphasis on Jannah as a reward whereas muhsineen they get a reward but it?s more described us they get an ajr. No emphasis exactly what.. but they will be rewarded, they will be requited.

Not sure if it means anything? I have a theory but for now I?ll hold my fingers still and think about it more.

          Peace

Well, if God has the best names, then if one tries to embody the attributes in some of His names (the ones applicable), then I think an argument could easily be made that this is a good thing, and we would become closer to God. I think this has been touched upon before in the forum.

It could be an interesting observation about the reward of mTQW and mHSN, if there is a difference.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

Ha-Siin-Nun = To be handsome, make good, seem good/beautiful/comely/pleasing,

These are the results, that which makes/produces these results should, I think be the base meanings of the Root. One of the names falling in the category of "al husna" is "power-force" and "absolute control/dominance"; are these two things "beautiful" when we have famous quotation, "power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely"?

You?re talking about Allah?s names? Are you implying a quote suggests God will be corrupt?

What names were you thinking about exactly? This might help
                http//www.islamicity.com/Mosque/99names.htm

For arguments sake yes, they are beautiful. Who better to have power/dominance/control than Allah?

That was with relation to the base meanings of the Root. Some thing becomes beautiful only when it is proportionately balanced with everything else and is in a state of equilibirium. His absolute power attained the perception of "Al Husna" because He at His own will prescribed "Mercy" as His obligation. Most of the "attributes-and hence attributive name" have a positive as well as a negative aspect/extremity.
