I've been thinking about it for a while and I almost took it off yesterday but I chickened out at the last minute -\ Would it be ironic to say that I feel just the way I did when I first put it on?
I guess I'm kind of afraid of the reactions of people I know who care about me and the fact that I'm not yet ready to be berated about leaving Sunnism. I remember when I first put it on and hearing my (Non-Muslim) Mother tell me that the Quran doesn't even say to cover your hair, it's strange that she should say this to me a year ago and yet it was as if I put my fingers in my ears refusing to listen. It angered me that she was right and whenever she would ask me to bring the Quran to prove that Hijab = hair covering, I would always put it off until some other time.
Now I'm at a point where I simply don't want to endorse it any more but kind of see it as a bit of a safety blanket and it sounds weird but it's a bit of an ice-breaker? If that even makes sense. Plus, as I mentioned before, I'm not yet ready to come out of the closet about my 'apostasy'. I think the Muslim community around here see me in an unrealistic way (they are usually like this with converts) and I guess putting a foot wrong might warrant some horrible reactions.
I'm sort of in two minds about it right now. I want it off but I just don't know! >_<
Are there any Sisters here who took it off (or kept it on)? Any advice would be nice from girls and guys.
          Thanks peace

          Peace,
          Respectfully.

497 Those whose lives are terminated by the angels, while they had wronged themselves; they said What situation were you in? They said We were oppressed on the earth. They said Was the earth of God not wide enough that you could emigrate in it? To these their abode will be Hell; what a miserable destiny!
498 Except for those who were oppressed from the men, women, and children who could not devise a plan nor could be guided to a way.
499 For these, perhaps God will pardon them. God is Pardoner, Forgiving.
4100 Whoever emigrates in the cause of God will find in the earth many spoils and a bounty. And whoever leaves his home emigrating to God and His messenger, then is overcome by death; his recompense has fallen to God, and God is Forgiving, Merciful.

You are a Muslim, if you follow The Quran.
Only God will Judge you and what humans think or believe about you, is irrelevant, because you can never please all humans, being impossible to met them all and ask them for their opinion.

          God bless you, sister.
          Peace.

            Quran 285, 37, 1590-1594

As for women wanting to become nude and go against quran 2430... and becoming cheap for quran 2433.... let them please see the scientific evidences provided by some Italian scientists that go against their beliefs but agree with the quran.

            Am I being to harsh?

Maybe I need to find a forum where real muslimahs are at, because I have a question to ask them... and I don't know if the females here are suitable for that.

Uncovering your hair is not nudity. Good riddance!

Actually it is... where pheromones are released... that is. The hair is significant source of this... of course if you were bald...

I haven't found one yet, I'll just have to make sure that the muslimahs in my town speak up.

                Please quran 971

The headscarf does NOT stop men from talking/thinking and approaching women. What would you know? Have you walked out in headscarf before?

I believe that video was an exaggeration. People (men and women) admire beauty in all forms. That test is subjective to every individual guy even girl. Why didn?t they get women and see what they remembered? Stupid test.

Now in regards to the verses you mentioned

285 what are we denying from the book?

37 I am aware of that verse, doesn?t mean headscarf is a grey area topic. And if we take it as that than obviously it wouldn?t make sense for something important to not be discussed as an obligation. And if you think it?s a clear duty then please point out the verse that says it is.

1590-94 none of us are declaring Quran as falsehood and I find it offensive you put that label upon us. And know that you shall be accounted for all that you do to. We are not stupid.

You have no idea what it is like wearing a headscarf so before you talk about how valid our submission is, think twice and fear Allah

Ask your question, I?m interested to know.

                  Peace.

                    Nice verse but irrelevant.

If showing hair is nudity, so is showing face, so is showing hand feet etc on both sexes. if you believe exposing anything is nudity well than it works both ways.

hair can be an attraction on men and women. Bald men for example look at them with and without hair, a different look is perceived. beauty is subjective.

Maybe you should ask your question

In that case, men should cover their hair too.

You said it! Men still annoy me when I'm out. Last time I was at a supermarket, I was wearing a long coat and had my hair covered and a guy wouldn't leave me alone.

And don't forget, there are guys with headscarf and face veil fetishes.

                          with or without the woman?

                          (if that's even relevant.)

we're still pondering here, i suppose, on what makes "real muslimahs". And even after we figured it out, the ladies may not want to make such a bold claim, so you may as well go to where the girls say, "we are the real ones"...

Wow at this tirade. All I can say is wow. It's just a guess but are you a man? If you can point me to the part of the Quran which instructs women to cover their hair then I'll admit my mistake and never consider taking off my Hijab again but I've been searching and searching for 3 years and I STILL haven't found it. Maybe you saw something that the whole world didn't because even the Sunni Ulema admit that hair is not instructed to be covered (they just add that bit in their parenthesis).

But anyways, as far as I'm aware none of the Hijabis here have taken off their scarves and those without scarves didn't wear it in the first place so before you go all Domo Kun on us realise that it's not a superficial matter for us 'fake Muslimahs'. It's something that is obviously tearing me enough to have to even consider writing this do you think if I didn't care I would even think twice? But no, the 'real Muslimahs' (even those who believe that covering the hair is fardh) have never even considered taking off the Hijab right? The real Muslimahs have never ever done anything 'wrong' (and I'm not implying that anything in this discussion is wrong).

Also, I highly doubt that a flimsy piece of cotton is going to stop those pheromones from reaching those ravaging males who can't control themselves! And what about those ones who don't really give a damn if you wear a scarf or not? Orrr how about the ones who PREFER Hijab or even Niqab?
