tattoos

Asalaamu'Alaikom Brothers & Sisters,
I am a revert, or if you like, a convert to Islam. I had many tattoos before I said my Shahada & I admit I sometimes continue to get tattoos. I'd like to know what your views are on a Muslim having tattoos, such as do you think this is haram?
Thank you.Traditionally it is haram, though I can't think of any verse in the Quran that relates to it. Even from the traditional perspective, if it was done before your shahada there is nothing wrong with it.

but after shahada , he must remove the tattoos.

Yes, indeed. Waste money and mutilate his body even more to remove the Tattoo. Makes sense.
I'm assuming you don't know what Tattoo removal entails (or the price).if he is really want to be a good Muslim, money will not be a problem .

And the part where he mutilates his body again?
he will not mutilates his body in fact he will remove the mutilate from his body . I've watching videos about people removing tattoos and nothing happened to them in fact I have been surprised because their skin not mutilated. he has to contact an expert in removing tattoos.

If Abraham can circumcise himself in an old age just to please God, then why not? If you want to please the God then you don't worry about the price but you look for the prize!!

With all respect, that is nonsense. Even if you believe that tattoos are haram, the harm is already done, so to speak, so removing it would make no sense.
It does not make a person a worse or better Muslim if he (or she) has a tattoo! And excess money can be spend doing something good rather than wasting it on a tattoo removal operation, which, btw., is not as easy as you claim.
A friend of mine owns a tattoo studio in Cairo, and he is very busy. The majority of his clients are Muslims -- of different classes, male and female, unveiled and veiled.
Regarding the hadith -- this is talking about tribal practices. Those tattoos were most likely done for reasons we would call shirk, just like other body modifications. So we can't link it to getting a tattoo just in order to decorate yourself. Neither -- as is often done -- can it be used to prohibit women from plucking their eyebrows.

I could see if you removed them for the sake of pleasing Allah, however if it were to cause hardship I do not see how this would be necessary. The removal process can be quite costly, some people don't have the ability to do something like that and Allah is aware of all things.

If you have a tattoo that dosen't makes you a worst muslim, doing good things that will make you a better and a good muslim.

the only person said nonsense is you and sorry to say that, I've watched an american Muslim who used to have tattoos After Islam but when he got to be in Islam, he removed their tattoos and nothing happened to him, it's cost a hard money, but he will relief himself from being out of the community of Islam . they said probably he can't pray in a mosque.
P.S A lot of american singers like 50 cent or american actors, they do remove their tattoos, know that they are not Muslims .go figure!

Do you know the story of Ayoub the prophet ?

well, the majority are Muslims, not Moue'menine .

another reason from you to make tattoos? the hadith is clear , the verses are clear, so if you want to make following your desires, and you know what I mean , go look for a verse describe your case.

the prophet Ayoub suffered the biggest and the worst suffering on earth before, today and in the future, no one will suffer like him, so stop excusing. You know that in the day of Judgement the prophet will be witnessed our actions, so any excuse from you, will not be acceptable.

When one comes to Islam all past 'sins' are forgiven and the person starts a new page in their life. If in the past they have had tatoos then further mutilation to remove those tatoos AFTER reverting to Islam is rediculous. Prior to Islam they would not KNOW that changing the body that God gave them is 'sinful' for want of a better word, but after they revert they DO know, so removing them would be more of a sin, IMHO.
