Discrepancies among the Quranis on the number of daily prayers ?
-
The author of MOSTMERCIFUL Akbarally Meherally This one says only 3 prayers Fajr, Magreeb and Isha
- Strictly guarding (observing timings) of the "middle prayer" is a Divine Command of Allah
Guard strictly your (habit of) prayers especially the middle prayer and stand
before Allah in a devout (frame of mind). Sura Al-Baqarah 2 238. Translation by Yusuf Ali
There is no specific Revelation that distinctly defines the ESTABLISHMENT OF FIVE SALAT as prescribed for the THREE SALAT in verse 11 114. Hence the "middle prayer" is the Maghrib. This fact is further established by the reason that the above Command demands that this "middle prayer" must be observed at the precise time. Even during the era of the prophet (when there were no clocks and watches), it was not difficult for the followers to observe the setting of the sunset and guard the timings. On the other hand to guard the precise timing for 'Asr was not that simple. This verse number 2 238 also supports the earlier verse 11 114.Edip Yuksel in an article on Free Mind This one says only 3 prayers Fajr, Noon, and Magreeb or Isha
MIDDLE PRAYER (Noon)
"You shall consistently observe the contact prayers, especially the MIDDLE PRAYER, and devote yourselves totally to God." (223.
Verse 3832 implies that the time of the Middle prayer ends with sunset.
We can easily understand the MIDDLE prayer as a prayer between the two other prayers mentioned by name (Dawn and Evening).
If I were to follow the Quran only then which interpretation would I follow ?

Sorry, not number of daily prayers but the nature of the salaat.

This is an eternal debate... how many prayers... I mean according to Quran, you can see 3 or 5. Its the old Sunni Shia dispute of 5 and 3 all over again.
I say I love everyone despite being a 5 a dayer.... I think the main thing is to Pray, and to establish regularity within the framework or prayer. Of course I disagree that the Quran says 3, but I am more than happy to accept 3 as valid for someone else. Its the 2 a dayers and the 0 a dayers I have issues with....lol
by issues I dont mean any hatred etc... i simply mean intellectual disagreement.
May Allah keep is Quran Alone muslims united inshaAllah.Peace Love and Salaams to all

Salaams all.
After spending some time reading various posts about Salat, All i can say for sure is that Quran alone Islam can never be a united movement. For the simple reason that it respects the individuals opinion, and there are so many issues and points to decide on that people will probable never agree on enough points to form a cohesive movement.
Afterall... how can a 5 a dayer agree with a 3 adayer and a2 adayer and the 'its-mental-not-physical-ists'.It seems that the only thing that everyone agrees upon is that the word Salah appears a lot and so is deffinitely something..... and this loose angle will never be enough to unite everone...
Sorry if I sound 'down' on this issue... but in all honesty... I am upset about this...
The prospect of having communal prayers and meeting likeminded people who agree on some basics seems more implausable the more i read about the disparity of viewpoints going on.
Peace and Love and Salaams to all -
How many salat are named in the Reading?
This will answer your question.
Can we unit with such discrepancies?
Yes, if you accept other point of view. What about jews and christians?
As long as they are "God alone christians" and "God alone jews" or even "God alone whatever", we are all in the same boat.AT the End you will be judge ALONE, and you will be asked about it? What would you reply on the DOJ, some were saying this and that? No you will just follow what you understood to be the guidance.
Peace
