Well in that ayah it doesn't say Salaat at all and the word you are using here Yosalli means alltogether something else in other ayats.

As a side note, in 339 it is the verb form, not the noun "salat".

He wasn't Yusali to God for a child, He prayed for a progeny that was good-his wife probably in labour, but then when the malaika speak to him he takes up Salli, listening attentively to the malaika, who tell him his had a boy. He is a little gub smacked and thinking how he will face/tell the people - an old man and an old women having a child at that age(an outrage)!?, and the malaika advice its the way of Allah so just keep the lips sealed and you will get by - easier, without having to give an explanation to the people/ jokers.......

Aqara = Barren that produce no result or issue or fruit

So if she hasn?t produced anything in so many years and he has become very old aswell , Now suddenly a boy is born what will some people with dirty
minds think- think where the child came from?
