Prayer, what is it good for?
-
Salaam,
I have been contemplating prayer, as in my view it is a concept implanted into Islam, one that removes action and installs stagnation, the Christian/Jewish/Zoroastrian concept of enslavement and subjugation to the dictates of men, justified through prayer, a way to excuse the inexcusable.
If a prayer is answered in the mind of the pray'er, it is the blessing of there God, if not it is the will of there God, a pointless act justified through pointless logic, so they pray when they should act, the act is the concept dictated within the Qur'an not the inaction of prayer.
Yet so strong a grip has this Christian/Jewish/Zoroastrian implant gain upon the minds of the professing Muslims they revert to the correct Islamic model when prayer is challenged as Islamic, and begin to act in its defense, how ironic.
I write poetry, as a pass time, I wrote this, if you like poetry have a read, if not ignore it.
Prayer.
How will prayer shelter the dreamer,
Will prayers hope bark into the night,
will thoughtless lusts whistle temptations delight?Hope and pray for what you desire;
imagine!
The generous divine pauses at your request,
such fantasy;
as only through actions whitest form do all truths leap,
as loves cradling results leap beneath.Men's deceit twists the elegant truth;
Beg your worship, prostrate and beg!So hate foams upon the surface of all misdirections,
hate courts misery's nameless companions.
Even Death cannot name such horror,
blackness and silence scream the names inward upon the blackened mind of thoughtless lust.Dichotomous hopes tear apart all substance,
magic wishes cast into oblivions mercy,
muttering priest inspired, for usurious alliance.To pray, to hope, to wish, to long,
stagnant in the spell,
remedied in action, initialised in resolve.Passive Prayer contradicts reason in act of worship,
a prayer of ultimate insult that derides transcendence,
it mocks wisdom,
it subjugates freedom,
it crushes passion.Worship is degenerate supplication,
humans subjugation to a masterful deceit,
wealth empowered tyrants taunt the impoverished pusillanimous,
in pious superiority.Beg your worship, prostrate and beg!
Blind faith compels blind conformity,
envisioned adoration of a needful transcendence,
demanding such a futile,
fruitless act of self indulgent folly.Beg your worship, prostrate and beg!

Salamun alaikum,
Love the poem.
I think you need to look again at the prayer aspect and change that word to the common 'namaz'. I try to pray to Allah Almighty as regularly as I can, but not in the structured manner in which sunnis do. You will find that a lot of people do see the whole wudhu and namaz cycle as a chore.
I will however say that praying helps to appease to the heart and more importantly for me, the regular timings enforces a habit which allows one to be 'God-Concious' more. I don't have the words to express god-conciousness other than it helps for me to be aware of Him throughout the day, and the regularity helps to program my brain to work in a certain way and be aware and concious of Allah almighty.
Of course, this benefits me and me alone and I would disagree that it forms inaction in all. In the majority, yes. The problem though isn't prayer but the nonsense about destiny having more control over my actions than my 'self'. It is from that the inaction stems.
Peace

For other's benefit please elaborate what is the "unstructured" mode of "namaz". Also please elaborate by "chore" you mean a task which is done regularly or "something that is awkward or boring to do". Thanks.

Salamun alaikum,
Following certain set number of rakats per namaz time, is what I mean. Also changing what i say in the sitting position.
By unstructured prayer I mean to call upon and remember Allah Almighty any time I want, whilst doing anything, but being concious of what I am doing.
By chore, I mean both meanings you stated.
Peace
