Prayers are 3 times... fajr, wusta and isha (times are sunrise, middle when sun is highest, sunset)
on traditional sunni adhans that would be fajr, zuhr and maghrib prayer times for the quranically correct prayers2 rakas and the positions are standing, bowing and prostrating
Charity is like 2.5 percent on day recieved

I'll add on to the last poster - you pay as much as you can for charity, without being stingy or spending too much. There is no set amount in the Qur'an for Zakat. We should pay when we have the money.
2219 And they will ask thee as to what they should spend . Say "Whatever you can spare." In this way God makes clear unto you His messages, so that you might reflect.
1726 - 29 And give his due to the near of kin, as well as to the needy and the wayfarer, but do not squander senselessly. Behold, the squanderers are, indeed, of the ilk of the satans - inasmuch as Satan has indeed proved most ungrateful to his Sustainer. And if thou turn aside from those seeking to obtain thy Sustainer's grace and hoping for it, at least speak unto them with gentle speech. And neither allow thy hand to remain shackled to thy neck, nor stretch it forth to the utmost limit , lest thou find thyself blamed , or even destitute.
6141 For it is He who has brought into being gardens- the cultivated ones and those growing wild -and the date-palm, and fields bearing multiform produce, and the olive tree, and the pomegranate resembling one another and yet so different! Eat of their fruit when it comes to fruition, and give their due on harvest day. And do not waste verily, He does not love the wasteful!

Just so that you know the sakaad and the amount (2.5) is in the Quran but what you are revering to is the sadakaad witch is not compulsry but if it is done than it is very rewarding . You must have heard about the expretion what goes around comes around or the more you give the more you get (receve)
Ether way you look at it , it is not compulsry (the sadakaad) but the sakaad is defnatly compulsry and the evidens and amount is mathamatacly coded in the Quran .
Do you know the prayer (salaah) is also mathamaticly coded , I mean the amount of racaats , the times , movements , spesifice words to say and so on but this again aplaiyes only to salaah (5 dayly contact prayer) not to any other prayer like doah or thiker . You may prays ALLAAH all day long by mentioning his name continiosly (thiker)
or you might talk to HIM and ask HIM for help and thanking HIM for every thing HE does(doah) but here again thiker and doah is not compulsry although it might be verry rewarding . The compulsry prayer is the salaah and that is also the most difficult to perform . ALLAAH is verry spesifice when it comes to amounts specialy when we want to worship HIM the right way . Remember HE does not need ouer prayers and money , what he wants from us is to worshipe HIM the right way HE tought us and than every thing will fall in place INSHALLAAH
I also have to add that the disbelievers and hippocrets also pray and give charaty but thay do it there way and not the way ALLAAH intented it to be . May ALLAAH guid us on the strayt parth and forgive us ouer sortcomeings.

For # 1 & 2 http//www.free-minds.org/salat
For # 3 Charity is open (the excess). However, there is a fixed tax stated in the Quran of 20% which goes to a specifc set of receipients (see 841).

Peace,
841 is specific for gains from war841 AND KNOW that whatever booty you acquire , one-fifth thereof belongs to God and the Apostle, and the near of kin, and the orphans, and the needy, and the wayfarer. if you believe in God and in what We bestowed from on high upon Our servant on the day when the true was distinguished from the false - the day when the two hosts met in battle. And God has the power to will anything.

If you're talking about "salah" (connection) and "zakah" (betterment), take their basic meaning and look at their results in the reading (quran). The basic meaning of connection is not a ritual prayer. If you look it up, you'll see that it results in going from darkness to light (3343), which can only be done by studying the signs of the god (6511). You'll see that it commands us with very specific commands (1187 onward, 7022 onward, 2945). The basic meaning of betterment is not a 1/40th charity, but a general command to bring forth betterment through conscientious acts.
3341-43. O you who have faith, you shall remember God frequently and glorify Him morning and evening. He is the one who connects to you, as do His controllers, to lead you out of darknesses into light. He is ever merciful towards those who have faith.
6510-11. Therefore, you shall be conscious of God, O you who possess intelligence and have faith. God has sent down to you a reminder a messenger who recites to you God's clarifying signs, to lead those who have faith and work righteousness out of darknesses into light. Anyone who has faith in God and leads a righteous life, He will admit him into gardens with flowing streams; they abide therein forever.
If we want to move from darkness to light, we have to study the signs (revelations) of the book of God.
It is possible to learn to read Arabic from dozens of simple websites or textbooks (e.g. "Alif Baa With Multimedia" by Georgetown University Press). Just being able to sound out the words will allow vocabulary and understanding to begin.
We can look at the reading word by word here

If so, the Salat here was certainly not a war/battlefield drill/excercise.

Why the need to quote between brackets if the verse is so specific? Obviously without the brackets we would not come to such conclusion, but would conclude that it is a tax applicable on any/all "gains". Interestingly enough, the Shia sect still maintain 841 as a "tax" payable on income which they uphold till today.

Obviously without the brackets we would not come to such conclusion, but would conclude that it is a tax applicable on any/all "gains". Interestingly enough, the Shia sect still maintain 841 as a "tax" payable on income which they uphold till today.
The beginning of the chapter provides context for the specific gains of defensive war, and 597 provides a practical example of distributing the gains of defensive war.
81 They ask you about spoils of war. Say, "Spoils of war belong to the god and the messenger."
841 Know that of anything you gain one fifth is to the god and to the messenger, and to the relatives, and to the orphans, and to the poor, and to the wayfarer.
597 Whatever the god provided to his messenger from the people of the towns belongs to the god and his messenger, and to the relatives, and to the orphans, and to the poor, and to the wayfarer. So, it will not remain monopolized by the rich among you.
The context is of believers who overcame their oppressors in defensive war. If you read 81 without 841, you may assume that 100% (not 20%) of the spoils of war are to be distributed by the messenger. If you read 841 without 81, you may assume that 841 is not a qualification of the wartime scenario presented in 81.
If you look at the list of recipients in 841 and 597 you will find them identical. Note that the reading (quran) talks about one fifth of what YOU personally gain. So, if you gain 10 kilograms of a resource in a defensive battle (e.g. gold, from a gold-hording oppressor), you have to give 2 kilograms to the messenger to be given to specific recipients. If all the believers rightfully hand over their 20% after the war, the people who need the money will be rightfully taken care of by the god through his messenger.
Furthermore, the greatest evidence is right in the passage of 841 itself
841 Know that of anything you gain one fifth is to the god and to the messenger, and to the relatives, and to the orphans, and to the poor, and to the wayfarer. You will do this if you believe in the god and in what we sent down to our servant at the time of the criterion, the time the two armies clashed.
20% is given away by those who recently went through a time of war.
A flat tax of 20% would not be suitable for all times, all places, and all economies.
Peace,
-David

- How many times to pray a day

1 - As far as I know this is not a prescribed practice.
2 - Calling to God is almost like an instinct when one finds themselves in moments of insecurity and in fear/hope .
3 - Charity which is to go to certain people is the excess.
Makes me wonder the motive behind his questions in the first place
You might be too suspicious.

I ask in order to get you right. Do you mean that the prostration by which salat is ended is physical, to be precise, puting ones forehead on the ground?
Awaiting your response.

Can any of you show me from the Quran the following
- How many times to pray a day
- How to pray
- How much charity to pay

Peace,
Respectfully.Prayer is described in detail in The Quran, check the examples of the Muslims before us, how they prayed. I had this conversations with sunnis so many times, it's funny.
When it comes to charity, i must ask this have you read The Quran chapter 2, verses 215, 219 and chapter 6, verse 141?
Thing is, The Quran must be read carefully, you have to ponder on the things you read, The Quran is not a newspaper, it is a Word from God. There is so much wisdom in all the verses which they come in to play when you need them. I have learned so much just in the last three years .... it is incredible.
Peace.

Peace,
Respectfully.
Prayer is described in detail in The Quran, check the examples of the Muslims before us, how they prayed. I had this conversations with sunnis so many times, it's funny.Salamo Alaykom,
ok, prove that prayer is described in detail in the Quran ? die to see your proof (weakness proof by advance).
ok, you have had conversation with sunni who maybe has some basics in sunnah, well dare to make this conversation with me ? ah let me remind you it'll be not funny at all .
When it comes to charity, i must ask this have you read The Quran chapter 2, verses 215, 219
this is the chapter 2 verses 215 by the way the only verse that talked about charity is the verse 215, about 216 talked about fight and 219 talked about wine so first of all you have to read Quran yourself then advice people reading it " a blind lead a blind both shall fall in a ditch" .
Anyawys this is the verse
They ask thee what they should spend (in charity). Say Whatever ye spend that is good, is for parents and kindred and orphans and those in want and for wayfarers. And whatever ye do that is good, Allah Knoweth it well. "
this verse talks about "" which can translated to english "charity" which is also another type of charity in arabic is "", so think before saying that you have read carefully Qur'an.
look there two terms of charity in arabic "" and "", which can both means the same thing but in different ways according to the sentence.
the guy that you have talked to him"sunni as you claimed" he talked about another Charity and it's not in fact charity because the word in arabic is unique and you can't find it an english. Anyways he talked about "" which is mentioned in Qur'an but Quran did not mention how to pay it, here the sunnah came to show how to pay "" .
the verse talks about give money to your parents and to your kindred and the orphans wherever they are and the people who they are in need for some money and this thing can be done by your own decision using some money according to your situation . the charity is something else, so the verse that you have claimed talks about what the guy has asked you is wrong picked up, the real charity is in the last verses of the chapter 2 . this verse 215 is talk about Nafaqa.
so now I've must ask this, did you read the last verses of chapter 2?
and chapter 6, verse 141?
this is the chapter 6 verse 141
Of the cattle are some for burden and some for meat eat what Allah hath provided for you, and follow not the footsteps of Satan for he is to you an avowed enemy."
care to explain to me the relation between this verse and Charity "" not "" ?

There is so much wisdom in all the verses which they come in to play when you need them. I have learned so much just in the last three years .... it is incredible.

You've read just three years and yet you can debate, woow you must be sooooooo clever , what you stated in this post is implied to you directly "Thing is, The Quran must be read carefully, you have to ponder on the things you read, The Quran is not a newspaper, it is a Word from God. There is so much wisdom in all the verses which they come in to play when you need them."
