I do not know but in Quran I found the following names and timings of Salat. Will anyone knowing otherwise will guide me and others confused on this issue.

    The Quran says
Salat is to be performed consistently, regularly and at specific times
4103 Prayer indeed has been enjoined on the believers at fixed times
they consistently observe their prayers on time.
And they observe their Contact Prayers regularly.

    Names of Salat.

O you who believe, permission must be requested by your servants and the children who have not attained puberty (before entering your rooms). This is to be done in three instances - before the Dawn Prayer and at noon when you change your clothes to rest, and after the Night Prayer.
These are three private times for you. At other times, it is not wrong for you or them to mingle with one another. GOD thus clarifies the revelations for you. GOD is Omniscient, Most Wise.

2238] you shall consistently observe the Prayers, especially the middle prayer

    Timings of salat.
you shall observe the Salat at both ends of the day, and during the night.

    END]-------DAY( SUNRISE TO SUNSET)----------

    First end of the day
( ) As the stars fade away.
and at dawn as the stars fade away.

    Second end of the day.
( ) from sinking of the sun to darkening of the night.
perform the Salat at the sinking of the sun to the darkening of the night
    ( ) during night.

I do not know but a scholar from Egypt praying with us continued Maghrab prayer for 35 minutes. On questioning, he explained that according to Quran it is to be performed from sinking of the sun to the darkening of the night. Similarly Fajar prayer, he said, is to be performed from fading of the stars till rising of the sun. No time span is specified for Night prayer. May be he is right. Allah knows better.

Under guidance from Hadith the Main Stream Muslim believe in five prayers. Please be informed that for understanding this issue I have relies on verses relating to AL-SALAT alone. Remembering, glorifying, commemorating name of God is different.

This is to seek your guidance and not for the sake of dicussion.

    Muhammad Latif Chaudhery

The slaat of the quran is nothing more then what you call in Urdu "Salaa Mashwara" It is done to gain know how of things from people of knowledge, experiance of subjects which you are not that much enlightened with-education is part and parcel of it.

The 5-prayers give you a false sense of satisfaction is okay but do they realy accomplish much? Not to my knowledge and experiance.

      peace

        peace latif,

You may wish to re-evaluate your translations of 7034, 239, 2238.

It seems you are using Rashad Khalifa's translation. Whilst it is easy to read, it is riddled with errors. No translation is perfect of course.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

What about Al-Salat spoken of by Quran? and how about Quranic injunction as to the public presentation of Al-Salat?

Here is the translation of as many as 10 translators. Except variety of words the essence is the same. I am glad that you have no objection to my other submissions

I simply pointed out the ones with the obvious errors. That does not mean I have no objections to the rest.

              Peace,

as so strange as it seems to be, all the 10 translations you provided are wrong and I will tell you why.
They all translated AL SALAT ALWASTA by "the middle prayer" which is wrong because in arabic when 2 words (one following the other) are the same in gender, number, status, type this would mean more than likely that you have a noun and an adjective. Here ALWASTA is adjective of ALSALAT, then you cannot translate it by "the middle prayer" but instead it should be "the balanced/moderate bond".

Also read the following link where it has been discussed already and particularly the msg of brother abdu about the context of 2238.

                Peace Br. Latif,

What about Al-Salat spoken of by Quran? and how about Quranic injunction as to the public presentation of Al-Salat?
                Muhammad Latif Chaudhery

                Public Salaat;

You can have a public gathering to tell people the rights and wrongs which God envisages you to uphold-apart from which you could include day to day problems and solutions and sort out peoples shortcomings. Also you could have a platform for people to voice their concerns.

Saying all that you could have a salaat in a war where the plans are made on how best to overcome the enemy.......

You could have a salaat at home for the family to voice their concerns if any.

Just think if you teach a jungli, a jungle man the sunni salaat will it realy prevent him doing wrongs? On the other hand if you teach the jungli what are the rights and wrongs he should uphold then he can skip doing the wrongs so not be on the side of non belief, if he chooses to remain a muslim - according to the quran.

Every person has the right to do right or wrong but knowing what is right and wrong is what prevents a muslim from being unrighteous.
                peace

                A
