    Peace all

I don't want anyone to think that this post is targeted at them. One person has inspired me to start this post but it is something that we all need to think about, not only on this forum but in our own daily lives.

As 'Free-minders', we need to keep an open mind and accept other people's opinions even if we don't agree with them. Not only might they pose a few questions for us to think about but it is also respectful.

So this is just a reminder. But I also want your opinions on this issue. Quranic verses are always welcome.

    peace

        Salamun alaikum,

Tolerance of other views, absolutely. However, there comes a time when you have that pile of poo shoved in your face too many times that you have to call a stop to it.

        Tolerance also works both ways.

It is a basic human right.

I do not however have to be tolerant of abuse. That's where the pile of poo comes in.

        Peace

Of course, abuse is unacceptable and it is a sign of disrespect. If someone needs to give an opinion, they need to make sure that they don't offend the other person.

without applying any ifs and buts or any other condition doesn't quran tells us that "You shall invite to the path of your Lord with wisdom and kind enlightenment, and debate with them in the best possible manner. Your Lord knows best who has strayed from His path, and He knows best who are the guided ones." 16125 Translation by Rashad Khalifa.

I think we all can agree with that.

1137 And as he was constructing the ship, every time any cluster from his people passed by, they mocked him. He said "If you mock us, then we also mock you as you mock."

Lets tolerate, but also realise when you are being treated as a joke.

                          Assalamu aleikum,

From this verse we see tolerance...

those who have been evicted from their homes without right - only because they say, "Our Lord is Allah ." And were it not that Allah checks the people, some by means of others, there would have been demolished monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which the name of Allah is much mentioned. And Allah will surely support those who support Him. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might. Surat Al-Haj

                          Salam/Peace

thats in the situation of war

                            2239-40

To those against whom war is made, permission is given (to fight), because they are wronged;- and verily, God is most powerful for their aid;-

(They are) those who have been expelled from their homes in defiance of right,- (for no cause) except that they say, "our Lord is God". Did not God check one set of people by means of another, there would surely have been pulled down monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques, in which the name of God is commemorated in abundant measure. God will certainly aid those who aid his (cause);- for verily God is full of Strength, Exalted in Might, (able to enforce His Will).

From this verse we see that even in a war situation this buildings are not allowed to be destroyed so this verse speaks about true tolerance.

Quranic verses are always welcome.

                                          peace

Thank you for the reminder. It's not right nor fair for us to assume that someone's intention is bad without actually being able to read their mind which i doubt anyone in this world can. We should excercise caution but think the best about people and their intentions as that is much better than thinking the worst about people. If you think the best and you get it right, then great. If you think the best and get it wrong then it's ok so long as you were cautious then there will be no harm done.

BUT if you think the worst and you get it wrong, then you've been unfair

2415 For you have cast it with your tongues, and you say with your mouths what you have no knowledge of, and you think it is a minor issue, while with God it was great.
2416 And when you heard it you should have said It was not right for us to speak of this. Glory be to You, this is a great lie.
2417 God warns you not to repeat something similar to this ever, if you are believers.

                                          peace
