    peace all,

As part of the site Quran434, I have written the following article to accompany it, discussing my methodology. Its aim was to provide a simple and practical approach, coupled with an extensive reference to The Quran's guidance on this issue.

How to read and study The Quran?
    http//www.quran434.com/study-method.html

Feedback/corrections welcome, especially any additional suggestions.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

      Great job there, Wakas.

Correction in the list, it's 47/24, not 47/26.

Suggestion for the line 3030, 4153, 2110 - its information and teachings should map to our reality (within our psyche, experience and to the furthest horizons).
I would add 51/20-21 and possibly note the subtle differnce between it and 41/53.

      thanks again!

          peace bros,

Thanks for the feedback. Some of the content was a compilation of already existing articles, and some of it was my own work.

abdalquran, I have made the correction and added those signs, thanks. I also added 453-4.

                Wakas

The perfect way is only difficult for those who pick and choose. Do not like, do not dislike; all will then be clear. Make a hairbreadth difference and heaven and earth are set apart; if you want the truth to stand clear before you, never be for or against. The struggle between "for" and "against" is the mind's worst disease.

                Mr. wakas,
When you adapt the translation of "Hur" as "white grapes" what is exactly in your mind?

You are for "white grapes" rather than "ladies with beautiful eyes" for what reason?

Do you agree that Quran and Muhammad never called for Jihad (to fight with infidels)? If yes then you are putting close ears and close eyes to history and other evidences and also to other many ayats of Quran.
and if you disagree than why is it impossible to think that some thing of the sort had been said in Quran?
Is this not pick and choose, like and dislike?
The society you live in, U,K seems to dislike vilolence of any kind though only on paper some times. But as you are living there you dont like any verse or translation that preaches even little violence may be even for self defence. But that was not the case of that times Arabs, it was a different society, different culture.
It is not what we like or dislike and it is not pick and choose?
Therefore the root system to study Quran is not the best way.

                  peace Raaajah,

Instead of posting unevidenced critique, I recommend actually posting evidenced critique.

Nowhere have I said I favour the translation of "white grapes", and nowhere did I say The Quran does not allow fighting. Not only that, you then draw the nonsensical conclusion of "Therefore the root system to study Quran is not the best way.". Your logic is simply unfathomable.

Ok, YOU are Mod I got the message &

But Mr. Wakas, what I mean to say is when you rely solely on root system to analyse and understand the Quran that surely does not help.
If someone uses "white grapes" instead of Huir" then he used the root system to arrive at this definition, but to arrive at this definition he already had a mind set and he actually picked and choose the best word which suited his thoughts.
I just gave an example because the method you are talking about is just impossible to follow.
Please give me an example where you choose another word/translation of Quran than which was accepted by majority. So I can understand how you use the method practically.

Thinking of your age, you are so young and have long way to go. No doubt You have done some good research work, but it doesnot mean you undermine others, try to be of cool temper, take this as an advice from you elder brother if you dont mind.

Note how you did not retract your false statements about me, and continued on committing more errors.

what I mean to say is when you rely solely on root system to analyse and understand the Quran that surely does not help.

Perhaps that is why nowhere have I ever recommended or relied soley on root system. Anyone who bothered to read the link in this very thread would know that.

If someone uses "white grapes" instead of Huir" then he used the root system to arrive at this definition

If you are referring to Luxenberg's work, he uses Syro-Aramaic in order to understand The Quran.

I just gave an example because the method you are talking about is just impossible to follow.

                      Impossible for you perhaps.

Please give me an example where you choose another word/translation of Quran than which was accepted by majority. So I can understand how you use the method practically.

Even though throughout the years I have posted numerous examples here, why not actually read the study at the very site I linked to in this thread.

Thinking of your age, you are so young and have long way to go. No doubt You have done some good research work, but it doesnot mean you undermine others, try to be of cool temper, take this as an advice from you elder brother if you dont mind.

If someone posts false information about me, coupled with fallacious argument, then forgive me if I am not as "cool tempered" as you'd like me to be.

Qur'aan is composed with Arabic words. And all Arabic Words are derived from a Root, and each Root has a specific perception infolded in it. Anything relied upon other than the Root is just gossip and conjecture.

How can reliance upon the context be reliance upon gossip and conjectures? The context is planned by Allah himself (it is Allah who calls Quran a 'kitab&#039 and therefore has a greater significance than the root meanings which are found in humanly author books (such as Lanes and others) and therefore by its very definition is a conjecture.

Why are you so much confused? What is the context? Is that made of something other than Arabic words? Context will also be understood with the Root's perception of the words indicating the context. And how the context gets reflected? By the placement of vowels and adjustment of consonants of the Root and placing of the words in different order in a sentence which will convey the perception/idea the author intends to convey to the reader.

Thank you for your concern Mazhar but I'm not confused at all. I will demonstate my logic for you

                              1. Is the Quran protected? I believe it is. The entire recitation is protected and therefore infallible.

                              2. What does recitation contain? A text. Whole sentences, passages, chapters.

                              3. Does this recitation contain roots and lexicography? No it doesn't

                              4. What books contain roots and lexicography? Dictionaries like Lanes

                              5. Are dictionaries protected? By the Quran, No they are not.

                              6. Do they have a single meaning for each root? No they do not

Therefore, how on earth can we say that the best method is looking at the roots? Lexicographers can't even agree on WHAT the roots are. For the word 'quran', some say it's 'Qaf Ra Alif? and some say its ?Qaf Ra Noon?!

With the Quran itself, whatever you may say ?salaat? means , you can never fit in certain meanings with contexts like 5/106 which infer that salat is performed by non-believers.

So the most fundamental thing is looking at the text, not roots and lexicography.

My dear abdalquran, this is not logic butplain disconcerting confusion and irrationality.

A book is written in a language. And language has only words which are placed in certain determined patterns to convey an idea. Qur'aan is in Arabic. The peculiar feature of this language is that its words are made from a Root which has specific builit in perception. You wish to go into the skies without even having a launching pad. When you do not know the basic foundation of the language, I fail to comprehend, how would you know Qur'aan?

Lane does not deal with Roots. And I never advocated for Lexicographers or said that what they say is the last word. Just treat all of them as your assistants and consider Qur'aan as the Guide. Learn in the manner as Qur'aan teaches everything including Arabic, its own language.

Begin with "Bisme", a consonant coupled with a vowel prefixed to one of the ten rare nouns of Arabic. Consonant and vowel collectively is preposition and is conjoined to a noun resulting in a prepositional phrase. Do not move forward until you have studied about Arabic preposition and prepositional phrase. Since you have an inquisitive mind, start questioning why the Book has started with a preposition?

Then find the Root of the first word. You will find Qur'aan first introduces the concept what we call "epistemology".

The day we grasp the perception and idea infolded in the Roots we will perfectively perceive the meanings and connotations attached to each and every word made from it while the basic perception will always be present and remain dominant.

I am sure we can help each other in learning to better understand and comprehend Qur'aan, if we move gradually in proper sequence of Qur'aan. Howere I have studied a little bit of this Root.

This is the problem im seeking to illustrate, Mazhar. While you say the root is Q-R-A, some lexicographers say that its Q-R-N. That's fine that they differ but what each individual needs to do is to check it with the Quran itself. The Quran's own ayat must be the arbiter here.

And yes, lets discuss together to reacher a deeper understanding, inshaa Allah.

Dear would you please let me know that gentleman who thought or said Qur'aan is from Root

Words from this Root used in Qur;aan are 36 and you can see there that it has nothig to do with reading a book.

Perhaps that is why nowhere have I ever recommended or relied soley on root system. Anyone who bothered to read the link in this very thread would know that.

                                          right, I agree then!

                                          Impossible for you perhaps.

Yes, for me, and for any body who tries to follow that method honestly, prove with an example if other wise.

Even though throughout the years I have posted numerous examples here, why not actually read the study at the very site I linked to in this thread.

It is hard to follow your many years record. Just give me a link of a specific example of what i have asked in my last post, and I will try to analyse how is it possible to arrive at that translation or usage of word, which you adapted following the method you mentioned.

                                          quote from Mazhar

                                          Quote
But Mr. Wakas, what I mean to say is when you rely solely on root system to analyse and understand the Quran that surely does not help.

Qur'aan is composed with Arabic words. And all Arabic Words are derived from a Root, and each Root has a specific perception infolded in it. Anything relied upon other than the Root is just gossip and conjecture.

I think abdalquran has provided a reply that is much much better than I would had, due to my deficiency in English language.

To rely solely on root system for understanding the Quran is not the proper/best way.
