Well I don't remember the verse and chapter, and I apologize for this I know its really bad but I read something that was banning suspicion or backbiting, and it said this is even more abominable than eating your dead brother's flesh (well apparently its only Khalifa's translation that says suspicion is more abominable than eating flesh of your dead brother, but all the other translations still say it is something abhorrent, something you would hate/abhor)

al-Hujurat (The Private Apartments, The Inner Apartments, The Chambers) 4912

      4912

Transliteration Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo ijtaniboo katheeran mina alththanni inna baAAda alththanni ithmun wala tajassasoo wala yaghtab baAAdukum baAAdan ayuhibbu ahadukum an ya/kula lahma akheehi maytan fakarihtumoohu waittaqoo Allaha inna Allaha tawwabun raheemun

Literal You, you those who believed, avoid/distance yourselves from much of the doubt/suspicion , that truly some/part (of) the doubt/suspicion (is a) sin/crime, and do not spy/seek information (about others) and some of youdo not backbite some (each other). Does any of you love/like that (E) he eats his dead/lifeless brother's flesh ? So you hated it, and fear and obey God, that truly God (is) forgiving, merciful.

Yusuf Ali O ye who believe! Avoid suspicion as much (as possible) for suspicion in some cases is a sin And spy not on each other behind their backs. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Nay, ye would abhor it...But fear Allah For Allah is Oft-Returning, Most Merciful.

Pickthal O ye who believe! Shun much suspicion; for lo! some suspicion is a crime. And spy not, neither backbite one another. Would one of you love to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Ye abhor that (so abhor the other)! And keep your duty (to Allah). Lo! Allah is Relenting, Merciful.

Arberry O believers, eschew much suspicion; some suspicion is a sin. And do not spy, neither backbite one another; would any of you like to eat the flesh of his brother dead? You would abominate it. And fear you God; assuredly God turns, and He is All-compassionate.

Shakir O you who believe! avoid most of suspicion, for surely suspicion in some cases is a sin, and do not spy nor let some of you backbite others. Does one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? But you abhor it; and be careful of (your duty to) Allah, surely Allah is Oft-returning (to mercy), Merciful.

Sarwar Believers, stay away from conjecture; acting upon some conjecture may lead to sin. Do not spy on one another or back-bite. Would any of you like to eat the disgusting dead flesh of your brother? Have fear of God; God accepts repentance and is All-merciful.

Khalifa O you who believe, you shall avoid any suspicion, for even a little bit of suspicion is sinful. You shall not spy on one another, nor shall you backbite one another; this is as abominable as eating the flesh of your dead brother. You certainly abhor this. You shall observe GOD. GOD is Redeemer, Most Merciful.

Hilali/Khan O you who believe! Avoid much suspicions, indeed some suspicions are sins. And spy not, neither backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it (so hate backbiting) . And fear Allah. Verily, Allah is the One Who accepts repentance, Most Merciful.

H/K/Saheeh O you who have believed, avoid much assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Accepting of repentance and Merciful.

Malik O believers! Avoid immoderate suspicion, for in some cases suspicion is a sin. Do not spy on one another, nor backbite one another (to say something about another behind ones back that if one hears it, dislikes it). Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Surely you would abhor it. Fear Allah; for Allah is the Accepter of repentance, Merciful.

QXP O You who have chosen to be graced with belief! Avoid much suspicion and guesswork. For, behold, some of such suspicion and guesswork deplete your communal energy. And spy not upon one another, nor shall you backbite one another. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Nay, you would detest it! Be mindful of Allah. Verily, Allah is Relenting, Merciful.

Maulana Ali O you who believe, avoid most of suspicion, for surely suspicion in some cases is sin; and spy not nor let some of you backbite others. Does one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You abhor it! And keep your duty to Allah, surely Allah is Oft-returning (to mercy), Merciful.

Free Minds O you who believe, you shall avoid much suspicion, for some suspicion is sinful. And do not spy on one another, nor shall you backbite one another. Would one of you enjoy eating the flesh of his dead brother? You certainly would hate this. You shall observe God. God is Redeemer, Merciful.

Qaribullah Believers, abstain from most suspicion, some suspicion is a sin. Neither spy nor backbite one another would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Surely, you would loathe it. Fear Allah, without doubt Allah turns (in mercy) and He is the Merciful.

George Sale O true believers, carefully avoid entertaining a suspicion of another For some suspicions are a crime. Inquire not too curiously into other mens failings Neither let the one of you speak ill of another in his abscence. Would any of you desire to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Surely ye would abhor it. And fear God For God is easy to be reconciled, and merciful.

JM Rodwell O Believers! avoid frequent suspicions, for some suspicions are a crime; and pry not neither let the one of you traduce another in his absence. Would any one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Surely ye would loathe it. And fear ye God for

Asad O you who have attained to faith! Avoid most guesswork - for, behold, some of guesswork is a sin; and do not spy upon one another, and neither allow yourselves to speak ill of one another behind your backs. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Nay, you would loathe it! And be conscious of God. Verily, God is an acceptor of repentance, a dispenser of grace!

Anyways back to the original topic, what do you guys have to say about that, the "violent blow" and whether this can include killing with hunting rifles, and what method should be used besides the banned methods using only the Qu'ran as guidance. Does anyone have any idea of methods to be used which do not fall into the banned methods besides throat slitting?

It is, if you slaughter them halally to eat them. If not, then they probably died of some 28 days later like virus and you're better off not eating them in extreme circumstances. I'd sooner eat my arm than a dead zombie.

I'm seriously apologizing for being a little slow but what are you getting across with this?

Eating humans is not banned in Quran, can we cook our neighbours or should we eat them raw?

You have said you read the entire Qu'ran, correct? I remember you said that once when you replied to a question of mine whether passing wind nullifies ablution, and you said it is not anywhere in the Qu'ran.

What is your opinion of 4912, in regards to the part about eating your dead brother's flesh. I'm seriously asking for your opinion, this isn't a provoking question

                It means back-biting.

I was not being serious about eating my neighbours! Sorry my humour runs away with me sometimes.

yeah, but doesn't it compare it to eating your dead brother's flesh when it is implying that it is equally as abhorrent? Or according to Khalifa's translation, backbiting is even more abominable than eating your dead brother's flesh?

Yes, I understand that, and that was what I explained as my understanding that the various translations say that it is either just as bad as eating someone else's flesh or is even worse than eating someone's flesh. Which means that eating someone's flesh is abhorrent, not approved by Allah. All off topic anyways.

"Well I don't remember the verse and chapter, and I apologize for this I know its really bad but I read something that was banning suspicion or backbiting, and it said this is even more abominable than eating your dead brother's flesh (well apparently its only Khalifa's translation that says suspicion is more abominable than eating flesh of your dead brother, but all the other translations still say it is something abhorrent, something you would hate/abhor )"

                                Peace

Well it is not simply common sense, it is also listed as being abhorrent, equally or less but still abhorrent in comparison to backbiting.

The other animals are not banned in words though, except for during Hajj. However like I said, I am honestly interested in seeing if people have had success in killing them in a halal way. It might be possible I don't know. I am wondering if someone based on deduction using the methods we can't use can suggest a way perhaps besides throat slitting which will not fall into the category of banned methods.

If not however and the only halal way is throat slitting, maybe someone could do it successfully with a cat. I doubt it with a monkey though, or a lion or a lizard or most birds (especially small birds and/or powerful and dangerous birds ) and I wouldn't try it out on a large flightless bird either, those things can disembowel with one kick.

I'm assuming these bans on these animals don't exist, but I am thinking as of right now (and am hoping someone can and will contribute if they have devised or know of a non haram method to kill them besides throat slitting which would be problematic with these animals) it cannot be done. So if we are starving, we have no recourse but to kill them in a haram way, but we cannot eat them out of desire because as of right now, I don't know of any halal method to kill them (which will not lead to haram injuries to the animal or injuries period to ourselves)

                                Peace

                                    @ AK85

                                    Anaam/livestock in the Quran are animals that eat crops. Here is the reminder;

Do they not realize that we drive the water to barren lands, and produce with it crops to feed their livestock, as well as themselves? Do they not see?

                                    Anaam only can be sacrificed on Hajj because they are domesticated/subdued animals. Here is the reminder;

. Neither their meat, nor their blood reaches GOD. What reaches Him is your righteousness. He has subdued them for you, that you may show your appreciation by glorifying GOD for guiding you. Give good news to the charitable.

Annam/livestock are the only animals which can make them standing in line.

. The animal offerings are among the rites decreed by GOD for your own good. You shall mention GOD's name on them while they are stand- ing in line. Once they are offered for sacrifice, you shall eat therefrom and feed the poor and the needy. This is why we subdued them for you, that you may show your appreciation.

In 51 God makes lawful/Halal only Livestock on Hajj too

O you who believe, you shall fulfill your covenants. Permitted for you to eat are the livestock, except those specifically prohibited herein. You shall not permit hunting throughout Hajj pilgrimage. GOD decrees whatever He wills.

Would you still insist that Lions, monkey and cats can be sacrificed on Hajj? If so please show me the proof .Thanks

                                    Peace

Ok, so you have shown me (very clearly thank you) the animals permitted and banned for slaughter during Hajj. Now can you show me where lions, tigers, monkeys, cats, lizards etc. are banned period i.e. not during hajj? That's was what I was talking about, NOT about what animals are banned during Hajj.

P.S. I'm not even hoping that you don't bring a verse that shows these aren't banned, personally I wouldn't want to eat cats or monkeys or lizards. Even if they are not outright banned though, with the reasons I showed above, it would be difficult to slaughter them in a halal way. Unless someone can show me methods which have worked successfully in regards to slaughtering them in a halal way.

This is what I was talking about. Not an insistence of lions, monkeys, cats and lizards being permitted for slaughter during Hajj.

                                          Peace AK85
Here are the verses where the word of livestock has been used in them. My understanding is that livestock are for eating not the lions, cats and dogs etc.
Please note the highlighted verses where God specifically tells us that livestock are permitted. The verses 55 needs to be looked at too .
This is my understanding and God knows best.

Adorned for the people are the worldly pleasures, such as the women, having children, piles upon piles of gold and silver, trained horses, livestock, and crops. These are the materials of this world. A far better abode is reserved at GOD.

"I will mislead them, I will entice them, I will command them to (forbid the eating of certain meats by) marking the ears of livestock, and I will command them to distort the creation of GOD." Anyone who accepts the devil as a lord, instead of GOD, has incurred a profound loss.

O you who believe, do not kill any game during pilgrimage. Anyone who kills any game on purpose, his fine shall be a number of livestock animals that is equivalent to the game animals he killed. The judgment shall be set by two equitable people among you. They shall make sure that the offerings reach the Ka`bah. Otherwise, he may expiate by feeding poor people, or by an equivalent fast to atone for his offense. GOD has pardoned past offenses. But if anyone returns to such an offense, GOD will avenge it. GOD is Almighty, Avenger.

They even set aside a share of GOD's provisions of crops and livestock, saying, "This share belongs to GOD," according to their claims, "and this share belongs to our idols." However, what was set aside for their idols never reached GOD, while the share they set aside for GOD invariably went to their idols. Miserable indeed is their judgment.

They said, "These are livestock and crops that are prohibited; no one shall eat them except whomever we permit," so they claimed. They also prohibited the riding of certain livestock. Even the livestock they ate, they never pronounced GOD's name as they sacrificed them. Such are innovations attributed to Him. He will surely requite them for their innovations.

They also said, "What is in the bellies of these livestock is reserved exclusively for the males among us, and prohibited for our wives." But if it was a still birth, they permitted their wives to share therein. He will certainly requite them for their innovations. He is Most Wise, Omniscient.

Some livestock supply you with transportation, as well as bedding materials. Eat from GOD's provisions to you, and do not follow the steps of Satan; he is your most ardent enemy.

And He created the livestock for you, to provide you with warmth, and many other benefits, as well as food.
And in the livestock there is a lesson for you we provide you with a drink from their bellies. From the midst of digested food and blood, you get pure milk, delicious for the drinkers.
And GOD provided for you stationary homes where you can live. And He provided for you portable homes made of the hides of livestock, so you can use them when you travel, and when you settle down. And from their wools, furs, and hair, you make furnishings and luxuries for awhile.

Eat and raise your livestock. These are sufficient proofs for those who possess intelligence.*

And the livestock should provide you with a lesson. We let you drink (milk) from their bellies, you derive other benefits from them, and some of them you use for food.
"He provided you with livestock and children.

Do they not realize that we drive the water to barren lands, and produce with it crops to feed their livestock, as well as themselves? Do they not see?

Have they not seen that we created for them, with our own hands, livestock that they own?

GOD is the One who created the livestock for you; some you ride, and some you eat.

He is the One who created all kinds, in pairs (male and female), and He created for you ships and livestock to ride.

Eight kinds of livestock regarding the two kinds of sheep, and the two kinds of goats, say, "Is it the two males that He prohibited, or the two females, or the contents of the wombs of the two females? Tell me what you know, if you are truthful."

He created you from one person, then created from him his mate. He sent down to you eight kinds of livestock. He creates you in your mothers' bellies, creation after creation, in trimesters of darkness. Such is GOD your Lord. To Him belongs all sovereignty. There is no other god beside Him. How could you deviate?

They may seek commercial benefits, and they shall commemorate GOD's name during the specified days for providing them with livestock. "Eat therefrom and feed the despondent and the poor."

Those who reverence the rites decreed by GOD have deserved a good reward at their Lord. All livestock is made lawful for your food, except for those specifically prohibited for you. You shall avoid the abomination of idol worship, and avoid bearing false witness.

For each congregation we have decreed rites whereby they commemorate the name of GOD for providing them with the livestock. Your god is one and the same god; you shall all submit to Him. Give good news to the obedient.

Also, the people, the animals(Davvab), and the livestock(Anaam) come in various colors. This is why the people who truly reverence GOD are those who are knowledgeable. GOD is Almighty, Forgiving.

I n below verse too God talks about livestock

For those who are Jewish we prohibited animals with undivided hoofs; and of the cattle and sheep we prohibited the fat, except that which is carried on their backs, or in the viscera, or mixed with bones. That was a retribution for their transgressions, and we are truthful

O you who believe, you shall fulfill your covenants. Permitted for you to eat are the livestock, except those specifically prohibited herein. You shall not permit hunting throughout Hajj pilgrimage. GOD decrees whatever He wills.
