    Bigmo,

You quoted many verses, but this never comes to your eyes,

    http//www.haqeeqat.org.pk/English%20Tafsir%20e%20Haqeeqat/00.Arabic%20Text/temp%2002%20%202.216.gif
It has been made mandatory upon you people to confront war and that is for you people a matter of dislike/abhor.
    http//www.haqeeqat.org.pk/English%20Tafsir%20e%20Haqeeqat/00.Arabic%20Text/temp%2002%20%202.216a.gif
But it is possible that what you dislike/abhor that may be better for you people.
    http//www.haqeeqat.org.pk/English%20Tafsir%20e%20Haqeeqat/00.Arabic%20Text/temp%2002%20%202.216b.gif
And it is also possible that what you like/feel pleasant might be damaging/harmful for you.
    http//www.haqeeqat.org.pk/English%20Tafsir%20e%20Haqeeqat/00.Arabic%20Text/temp%2002%20%202.216c.gif
And Allah knows everything while you people do not know everything.

    Chapter 2

Actually this verse's context was included

    1. Or do ye think that ye shall enter the Garden (of bliss) without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you? they encountered suffering and adversity, and were so shaken in spirit that even the Messenger and those of faith who were with him cried "When (will come) the help of Allah." Ah! Verily, the help of Allah is (always) near!

    2. They ask thee what they should spend (In charity). Say Whatever ye spend that is good, is for parents and kindred and orphans and those in want and for wayfarers. And whatever ye do that is good, -(Allah) knoweth it well.

    3. Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not.

    4. They ask thee concerning fighting in the Prohibited Month. Say "Fighting therein is a grave (offence); but graver is it in the sight of Allah to prevent access to the path of Allah, to deny Him, to prevent access to the Sacred Mosque, and drive out its members." Tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter. Nor will they cease fighting you until they turn you back from your faith if they can. And if any of you Turn back from their faith and die in unbelief, their works will bear no fruit in this life and in the Hereafter; they will be companions of the Fire and will abide therein.

    5. Those who believed and those who suffered exile and fought (and strove and struggled) in the path of Allah,- they have the hope of the Mercy of Allah. And Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

So here we have two situations. A trial of exile and having to fight. But its also clear here that it was the other side that chose this and this is consistent with what was said in 9-13.

However some believers might have felt disheartened at this kind of a trial. Since not only persecution and exile but now they are facing wars they would rather not be in especially when they saw themselves as the weaker party. There are many ways God can impose trial on people and this was the way He chose to do with the early believers but by no means it the only one.

2.153. O ye who believe! seek help with patient perseverance and prayer; for Allah is with those who patiently persevere.

    1. And say not of those who are slain in the way of Allah. "They are dead." Nay, they are living, though ye perceive (it) not.

    2. Be sure we shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods or lives or the fruits (of your toil), but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere,

    3. Who say, when afflicted with calamity "To Allah We belong, and to Him is our return"-

    4. They are those on whom (Descend) blessings from Allah, and Mercy, and they are the ones that receive guidance

our problems will never end unless this hate in our minds for all that is different from our own is not removed...

Whether you like it or not harris, Allah hates everything that is not Islam and wants the believers to hate likewise

But God made you love faith and He adorned it in your hearts, and He made you hate disbelief, wickedness, and disobedience. These are the rightly guided ones. (4907)

        Fighting is prescribed for you

This loosly worded translation is the source of misconceptions, fighting being general term which also includes "use violence", while what is prescribed is something specific and definite "Al Qitalo"; "the war that has been imposed or declared".

          Declared by who?

            Declared by who?

            The other party. The verbal noun has the meanings and connotation of mutulity/diverse groups engaged. And "Kutiba", passive perfect verb; indicates it was done at a point in time;

            http//www.haqeeqat.org.pk/English%20Tafsir%20e%20Haqeeqat/00.Arabic%20Text/004.%20An%20Nisa/temp%2014%20%204.077b.gif
then when as soon it was prescribed for them to fight the war one group of them was fearing people like the fear of Allah or even stronger fear than that,

            Chapter 4 Verse 70

I see another problem also and thats is not looking at a topic as how its addressed in the Quran but looking at verses one at a time. The Quran tells us

As for such who do not fight you on account of faith, or drive you forth from your homelands, God does not forbid you to show them kindness and to deal with them with equity, for God loves those who act equitably. God only forbids you to turn in friendship towards such as fight against you because of faith and drive you forth from your homelands or aid in driving you forth. As for those from among you who turn towards them for alliance, it is they who are wrongdoers. 608-9

Permission (to fight) is given to those against whom war is being wrongfully waged, and verily, God has indeed the power to aid them. Those who have been driven from their homelands in defiance of right for no other reason than their saying, Our Lord is God. 2239-40

So these verses give us more insights as to when and with whom fighting is prescribed. Defending your faith and homeland. What on Earth this has to do with killing all Jews?

What is the purpose of killing jews, or anyone else? This doesn't set an example.

                  Chapter 2

I think this is an important example, which can relate to today too. Fighting is not always bad, fighting for example in self defense for oneself is not bad, and fighting on behalf of others who cannot fight to defend themselves for whatever reason is not only not bad, it is noble. However some people do not want to do this period, even if it is justified, and I think that verse is addressing them. Some people abhor fighting in any context, and I think this is addressing them. That may be why Allah is saying you do not know everything (meaning knowing fighting is never good) and Allah does know everything, and in this case He knows that fighting (in certain contexts) is a good thing.

                    Peace,
                    Respect.

Yes, I agree. We should not kill anyone, until our own life is endangered.
We keep forgetting the Commandment"Thou shall NOT kill!"
We should wake up every morning and after we say good morning to our spouse, our kids, have our breakfast, we should recite all Ten Commandments. Just a thought, it's not obligatory ....

                    Peace.
