How do we get more member traffic?
-
As a side note, in my experience in most online forums, about 10% of readers actually post on a regular basis. Vast majority either read or visit infrequently.
Edited to add I just checked the stats and there has been a surge in new members joining recently, and last month saw the highest number of registrations. ;D

Wow. Then how can we get them to stop being shy and post?

Perhaps we could start by not choosing obscure/disturbing avatars?
Only joking, I like your avatar.
Lol I think it's rather....interesting P
You know, I often question whenever I see your avatar. It is obscure and open to interpretation.
Been listening to to much black eyed peas

I often question when I see your avatar too, e.g. "what is that in her hair?", "why so serious?", "does she have expensive taste in clothes?" etc
But yes, I chose mine to portray certain things of my personality, reflection/inquisitive/questioning is one of them )
Well done sirius, it is from the Black Eyed Peas

I like the song for its message, and the way they used the image, so I took it from there. -

Lol. Rightion, I'll answer the questions (even though I am not explicitly asked).
Believe it or not... whatever I wore in my avatar is bought in two-dollar shop p. I can't remember what was put on my hair, I think it was gold-glittery decoration leftover from Christmas lol. It was for a photoshoot project which I portrayed one of the Seven Deadly Sins Greed (even though I only got to hold monopoly money, not the real dollar ( (). As of expensive clothes... I love fashionable and pretty-looking clothes but I won't spend big bucks on them. For me, op shop is the way to go! In Australia, there are many charity-based op shop where I take the delight to shop from. It's a win-win situation. I get to buy awesome clothes at a bargain price, and the money I spend goes to charity instead of a big corporate ;D.
Anyway... I do get the impression that you are the questioning type of person by looking at your avatar .

Peace to all,
thats awesome news wakas, you have any opinions why we are having record numbers of people becoming members, i assume the message this sight promotes is starting to get ou and spreading into the traditionlist mindsight. Makes me feel happy and hopeful.

peace all,
BA, I thought it looked like a dress made of money, hence my joke. Thanks for clarifying
Kurt, I think the message of 'quran based islam' is growing, so I put it down to that. I think eventually it will snowball, so it should increase, but it may just be a temporary spike, not sure. Anyone can view the stats here. Personally, I think it is very easy to spread the message of The Quran, with simple/practical methods, it is simply a matter of will/effort. If you or anyone wants to discuss how, feel free to personal message me.

Peace,
thanks for the link to the stats, never seen them before, makes me want to participate more now that I know we have rankings, dont think ill ever be able to catch you though wakas. When you look at the new members numbers it is showing a huge snowballing effect, this is awesome, it went from a few dozen to several hundred per month, keep up the good work bro wakas and others, sisters as well. May GOd guide us all to him in truth.

I'm guessing the level of knowledge here can be intimidating, especially when it comes to quranic matters. Also, lots of noobs posting get the advice to use the search function and read threads that are several years old that raise whatever questions they have. While I understand the need for this (and also referring people to the featured articles) I think it can be a little discouraging for a newly awakened mind with lots of questions unanswered. I think it drives people into lurkerdom, sometimes for the better, but also for the worse. Everyone has something to share, but oftentimes it's deeply personal stuff and half formulated thoughts. If you're not knowledgeable and articulate it's really hard to discuss faith.
I don't really see the harm in re-hashing old discussions with new members, if it would lead to more people posting and sharing.
