This month has had the highest number of member registrations ever.

A nice introductory site is www.Learn-About-Islam.com

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

You know, I often question whenever I see your avatar. It is obscure and open to interpretation.

          Hi

          ! Impact of your avatar in my perception, is probably a mixture of peace, tranquility and sex appeal. it makes me stop by, whenever i am scrolling through;

              Peace,

Maybe some people who log on think that they have important things to say and share. But maybe they are affraid of the reactions it can create.

I'm sure that many have a lot to say, but they stay silent for reasons we don't know.

You are right, I brought in "peace" intenionally to sober down the "sex appeal bit" ) To be honest, it is loaded with "tranquilizing sex appeal" hypno

I'm guessing the level of knowledge here can be intimidating, especially when it comes to quranic matters. Also, lots of noobs posting get the advice to use the search function and read threads that are several years old that raise whatever questions they have. While I understand the need for this (and also referring people to the featured articles) I think it can be a little discouraging for a newly awakened mind with lots of questions unanswered. I think it drives people into lurkerdom, sometimes for the better, but also for the worse. Everyone has something to share, but oftentimes it's deeply personal stuff and half formulated thoughts. If you're not knowledgeable and articulate it's really hard to discuss faith.

I don't really see the harm in re-hashing old discussions with new members, if it would lead to more people posting and sharing.

I agree completely magnus. I am sure alot of long term members would love to have to energy and time to answer questions but it is quite draining. Perhaps we need to create a wiki of rehashes etc. that can be updated as the debates are ongoing?

                        Thanks for your thoughtful input.

I gather that it can be intimidating, but If you go back and read old posts of some long-term posters here, you'll realize how it's a step-by-step process.
The search function is often recommended because on many subjects there have been some amazing discussions over the years. That is not to say that there is anything wrong with creating new threads/topics. It's understandable that a 'newer' generation will have a different take/mindset, and may not want to re-hash old threads. Also, I think it gauges the EFFORT the poster is putting in his search for truth if he/she is willing enough to 'search' first. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to 'reward' intellectual laziness. That being said, you do make some very valid points.

To the lurkers out there We won't bite you, if you don't bite us. It's okay to not be so 'knowledgeable'. We're all there, have been there. Heck, i'd stay far away from anyone who pretended to know it all.

There's a few regular members but not a lot.

I kind of miss the reformer now. I disagree with some (most) of his opinions but he was definately a character.

                              Salaam.
                              Respectfully.

Maybea person who already is a member needs to open a subject that will attract another member .... hmm

                              Peace.
