Is the Hijab obligatory? In my opinion, no. What do you think?
-
below are the verses from which people say the hijab is obligatory, but no where below does it say it.
--the first one---well, to begin with, its talking about teh children of adam, which includes both MEN and women. negating the way that people apply it to the hijab already. and its talking about covering shame, which can be intrepreted in MANY ways. ex. the literal meaning shame or the privates. but i do not understand how in the world your hair has any shame to it? allah gave it to us. and if men want to lust after us for then THEY should veil their eyes.----second quote---- it says to dress modestly. MODESTLY does not mean cover your hair, and face, and mouth, and eyes. it even states to cover the bosom and private parts. how did the mullas extend that to the eyes and nose and mouth?? and it says, its fine to leave wats suppose to be out, arms and hair and eyes and nose and mouth ARE suppose to be OUT. as its part out our FACE. how much more natural can it get.
----third quote----it does mention a clock, but i think its rerfering to the cloak of modesty. and modesty just depends on ur definition.
anyways then people continue to say that the prophet muhammad (peace be upon him) stated it in a hadith. well, the prophet also stated NOT to write the hadiths and that everything we needed was in the quran.
yet people disobeyed him there and did in fact write his sayings down. not only that, but they did it from MEMORY more than 200 YEARS after the prophet died from heresay, and we all know how people forget and lie and make things up so we cant even check the authenticitys.
and last, there are so many hadiths saying ridiculous this like "you can beat your wife with a toothbrush" or something so retarded like that.
while im on the topic let me just say, the quran does say the word "beat" when talking about how to dela with a wife, but it does not mean hit her, it means beat her, as in LEAVE HER. ex. wen someones annoying u and u say okay beat it. as in okay leave. GET IT? why would allah want us to harm someone? he wouldnt and doesnt.
anways back to hadiths, some of them we can tell using common sense make no sense and some of them do preach being nice and stuff, but how are we going to accept only the "good" hadiths and pretend like the bad ones arent there
thats why i think the only thing we need is the quran. forget the hadiths. allah even says that the ONLY thing we need is in the QURAN. anyways thats my opinion.what do you think?
QUOTES
?O you Children of Adam! We have bestowed on you raiment to cover your shame as well as to be an adornment to you. But the raiment of righteousness, that is the best. Such are among the Signs of Allah, that they may receive admonition.? (Quran 726)
?And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what must ordinarily appear therof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands? fathers, their sons, their husbands? sons, their brothers, or their brothers? sons or their sisters? sons, or their women or the servants whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex, and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O you Believers, turn you all together towards Allah, that you may attain Bliss.? (Quran 2431).
?O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks close round them (when they go abroad). That will be better, so that they may be recognised and not annoyed. Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful.? (Quran 3359
sry about the horrible grammer and spelling. im in a rush, but had to get this out. thanks!

what do you think?
The quran says in the 2nd chapter
"Neither the Jews nor the Nazarenes will be pleased with you until you follow their creed. Say, "The guidance is God's guidance." If you follow their wishes after the knowledge has come to you, then none can help or protect you against God. Those whom We have given the book and they recite it truthfully the way it deserves to be recited; they acknowledge it. As for those who do not appreciate it, they are the losers."

Peace,
Respect.welcome welcome tot he forum, sister Khad3ja.
You might wanna first read these
7185 Have they not looked at the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that God has created? Perhaps their time is drawing near; so in which narrative after this one will they believe?
6112 And as such, We have permitted the enemies of every prophet mankind and Jinn devils to inspire each other with fancy words in order to deceive. Had your Lord willed, they would not have done it. You shall disregard them and their fabrications.
6113 That is so the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter will listen to it, and they will accept it, and they will take of it what they will.
6114 Shall I seek other than God as a judge when He has sent down to you the Book fully detailed? Those to whom We have given the Book know it is sent down from your Lord with the truth; so do not be of those who have doubt.
6115 And the word of your Lord has been completed with truth and justice; there is no changing His words. He is the Hearer, the Knower.
6116 And if you obey most of those on the earth they will lead you away from the path of God; that is because they follow conjecture, and that is because they only guess.
316 And from the people, there are those who will purchase a baseless narrative with which to mislead from the path of God without knowledge, and to make it a mockery. These will have a humiliating retribution.
3923 God has sent down the best narrative, a Book that is similar, dual. The skins of those who are concerned towards their Lord shiver from it, then their skins and their hearts soften up to the remembrance of God. Such is the guidance of God; He guides with it whoever He wills. And for whoever God misguides, then none can guide him.
456 These are the revelations of God, We recite them to you with the truth. So, in which narrative after God and His revelations do they believe?
5234 Let them produce a narrative like this, if they are truthful.
6844 Therefore, let Me deal with those who reject this narrative; We will entice them from where they do not perceive.
6940 This is the utterance of an honorable messenger.
6941 It is not the utterance of a poet; rarely do you believe.
6942 Nor the utterance of a soothsayer; rarely do you take heed.
6943 A revelation from the Lord of the worlds.
6944 And had he attributed anything falsely to Us.
6945 We would have seized him by the right.
6946 Then, We would have severed his life-line.
6947 None of you would be able to prevent it.
7750 So in what narrative, after it, will they believe? These are just some of the arguments that might be useful in the debate with a sunni or shia. Keep in mind that you must be patient and always grateful to God.
Always seek God and ask Him, He hears all and sees all.
Keep up the prayers sister and read The Qur'an.Peace.
