    Peace all

In preparation for our Quran study group topic next week, I am looking for verses that deal with how we should respond to insults against the Quran, God, the messenger, or anybody for that matter. Is there a necessity for response at all? It seems to me that responses could range from voicing your opinion on the matter to protests or even nothing at all. I am specifically interested in references from the Quran that deals with this issue. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Off the top of my head, the most relevant verse is

2563 And the servants of the Almighty who walk on the earth in humility and if the ignorant speak to them, they say Peace.

          Peace,
          respect.

4911 O you who believe, let not any people ridicule other people, for they may be better than they. Nor shall any women ridicule other women, for they may be better than they. Nor shall you mock one another, or call each other names; miserable indeed is the name of wickedness after attaining faith. And anyone who does not repent, then these are the transgressors.

          Keep searching.
          Peace.

            Peace

            Quran 3348
And do not obey the rejecters and the hypocrites, and ignore their insults, and put your trust in God; for God suffices as an advocate.

            Quran 6108
And do not insult those who call on other than God, lest they insult God out of ignorance. And We have similarly adorned for every nation their works; then to their Lord is their return and He will inform them of what they had done.

              Peace,
              Respect.

I know that sometimes is the best to simply just stay away and not even respond to an insult but we're all humans and get carried away.
Thank God that He is The MOST Merciful and Forgiver. Thank God.
              Glory be to God.

              Peace. hail

In addition to the ones posted before

Not equal is the good response and the bad response. You shall resort to the nicest possible response. Thus, the one who used to be your enemy, may become your best friend.

                16125
Invite to the path of your Lord with wisdom and kind enlightenment, and debate with them in the best possible manner. Your Lord knows best who has strayed from His path, and He knows best who are the guided ones.

                2855
And if they come across vain talk, they disregard it and Say "To us are our deeds, and to you is your deeds. Peace be upon you. We do not seek the ignorant."

                494
O ye who believe! When ye go abroad in the cause of Allah, investigate carefully, and say not to any one who offers you a salutation "Thou art not a believer!"...

                3118
You shall not treat the people with arrogance, nor shall you roam the earth carefree. God does not like the arrogant showoffs.

                1322
And those who are patient seeking their Lord's direction; and they honour the oath of allegiance, and they spend from what We bestowed upon them secretly and openly, and they counter sin with good; these will have an excellent abode.

                4388-89
And it will be said "O my Lord, these are a people who do not believe." So disregard them and Say "Peace." For they will come to know.

                222
You are not responsible for guiding anyone. God is the only one who guides whoever chooses (to be guided).

                peace

                  Peace All

Thank you all for your input. It really is appreciated. Our discussion went very well. I intend putting a short document together on the subject and will post the link once it is on our website for those interested.
