    Iman-e-Mufassal
    Image

    There are seven things which are essential for a Muslim to believe in. These are spelled out in detail in the formal declaration of Islamic faith known as Iman Mufassal. Muslims pledge

    1. Faith in God;

    2. Faith in His angels;

    3. Faith in all of His messengers or Prophets;

    4. Faith in His revealed Books;

    5. Faith in the Last Day or the Day of Judgement;

    6. Faith in the doctrine of predestination, which lays down that everything good or bad is decided by God), (Taqdir) and

    7. Faith in the life after death.

    Without iman, the individual?s espousal of Islam as his religion would lack credibility. That is why, if he is to be a true believer, he must not only testify to his faith by word of mouth (shahaada bil lisan), but must also accept it with all his heart and soul and then staunchly adhere to it. Furthermore, he is obliged to do good works in keeping with the fundamentals of the faith. Both belief (iman), and right action (amal) are absolutely vital.

    I. The Article of Faith ? The Shahaadah

    The Creed, or article of faith, called shahaadah, literally means ?witness? or ?testimony.? The first of the five pillars of Islam, its nomenclature derives from the word ?Ashhadu,? which means ?I declare,? or ?I bear witness.? As an Islamic term, it means testifying to faith in Islam. The words of the shahaadah in Arabic are La ilaha illa Allah Muhammad ur-rasul Allah. This means ?There is no god but God and Muhammad is the Messenger of God.? Its recital is called the ?kalimah.?

    For Muslims there are certain requirements which have to be observed regarding the recital of the articles of faith.

    They are as follows

    It has to be repeated aloud, at least once in a lifetime.

    Its meaning has to be fully understood.

    It should be believed in ?with the heart.?

    It should be professed until death.

    When spoken in Arabic and with sincerity, it is a commitment to obey God and follow the Prophet

    ?I bear witness that there is no god but God; I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of God.?

    These are the first words that are breathed into a child?s ear at birth. These are also the last words which a Muslim would utter with his dying breath.

    Even if someone recites the shahaadah hypocritically? which is not acceptable to God?he will still, for practical purposes, continue to be regarded as a member of the Muslim community. Nevertheless, a proper understanding of the basic tenets is a prerequisite for all true believers. And sincere and heartfelt faith is a sine qua non if salvation is to be ensured in the life Hereafter.

    The shahaadah consists of two parts; one, a negation, the other an affirmation. The first part? La ilaha illa Allah (there is no other God) negates the existence of each and every false god, and condemns false worship. The word ?ilaah? means ?god? or any object of worship; it could refer to any being, person, matter or concept, which is taken as an object of adoration or worship.

    The second part of shahaadah?illa Allah? stresses that only God, the one and only God, the Creator and Sustainer of all being, merits our reverence. No one else is to be worshipped or turned to for help or refuge. Neither angels, nor prophets nor saints, nor any other object share in His divinity. There is only One God, One Creator, One Sustainer? the Almighty God.

    and this one is for childrens.

          Peace be upon you,
          with all due Respect.

          From what I have seen, sunnis believe that a good believer (from their point of view) is a person who upholds The Qur'an and sunnah of the prophet and prophet's hadeeth. They believe that you can't read nor understand The Qur'an without the other two. I'm not gonna go into that now but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

          Keep up the rpayer and read The Qur'an, especially at night.
          Peace be upon you. sun

              I add some

              1. Faith in that God will reward those who kill the jews, christians and other infidels.
              2. Faith that Ahmadiya is a group of apostates (murtadeen) and their false prophet Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is a liar.
              3. Faith that Shiites is a group of apostates (murtadeen)
              4. Faith in Dajjal and the second coming of Christ from Heaven and shall kill Dajjal with a spear and will be buried besides Muhammad's tomb.
              5. Faith in Dajjal shall appears from among the Shiites Iran specifically from Isfahan
              6. Faith in those so-called Quranist and Anti-Hadiths were indeed a group of apostates and shall be burnt in hell for eternity, unless the believers convert or killed them first
              7. Faith in that Abdullah Ibn Wahab was indeed a reformer for a true religion.
              8. Faith in that encircling a cubical brick of stones shall makes God happy and grant us paradise.
              9. Faith in throwing the statue of devil in the same neighborhood as cubical brick of stones which is God's house with peebles shall makes God happy and grant us paradise.
              10. Faith in that killing a gecko shall make Abraham and as thus God very happy, because the gecko blew the fire when Abraham was being burnt.

              And the list goes on and on and on and on...

              And the list goes on and on and on..

                        Peace,
                        Respect.

                        Good sunni is also a person who is not afraid of a challenge. Several of them encountered me with their questions and I tried answering but they would either interrupt me or make threats. May God help us all. Good sunnis is always prepared to debate because if you truly are convinced of what you believe, just my view, then you really shouldn't be afraid of any questions.
                        However, when I start quoting verses from The Qur'an which clearly terminate sunnah and hadeeth, the debate ends.

                        Hasta la vista, huh?
                        Peace.

                          While you may mock and associate bad/odd things to sunnis, there is such a thing as a "good sunni". One doesn't need to follow the conventions outlined by others to be classified as such.

                          Pillars of faith (arkanul iman = 6) or pillars of islam (Arkanul islam = 5). The pillars ain't the all in all of sunnism.

                          peace.

                                        Peace,

                                        They did.
                                        This is why I don't see sunnis and shias as muslims in the first place. (not all, just what I have seen and heard!)

                                        They changed their name from muslims to sunnis or sunni muslims.
                                        From muslims to shia or shia muslims. No such thing in The Qur'an.

                                        They added volumes and volumes of books written by men who cannot be verified nor trusted.
                                        They get all their knowledge from those books and not only do they restrict The Qur'an to others and even themselves, they made it a very known and scary rule that if you don't understand Arabic or if you do not read tafseer or any hadeeth books or even if you don't believe in the authenticity of these, then you cannot possibly understand The Qur'an.

                                        They repel themselves and others from The Path of God and from The Qur'an.
                                        May God guide us all.
                                        Peace.

                                          Agree to that, Sister! My best friend is a Sunni and masha Allah, he is one of the most peaceful, kindest, open-minded person that I have ever known. He follows the hadiths, and he applies logical thinking as to what he believes. So yeah... not all Sunnis are bad, it is more of their actions and beliefs than their labels. If God grants rewards to Christian/Jews/Sabi'ans etc who believe and do righteous deeds, I'm pretty sure the Sunnis will get the same rewards if they truly believe and do good works.
