    Salaam everyone
What is your opinion on home schooling or even just a weekend home quran school. I have been pondering homeschooling for quite a while. Our kids are in excellent public schools and we live in a fairly religious diverse neighborhood but they are just not getting as much quranic schooling as needed. I do the y.e.s with them on tue-wed evening in our home along with a dessert but I want to give them a passion for the quran and for GOD. I personally have decided to get my doctorate in divinity(in the process) just for GOD and 2 years later im still passionate about GOD and the Quran. Do you think an evening once or twice a week is enough or a weekend school like on sat-sundays or something while the kids friends are at the church or temple(we live in a prominent jewish neighborhood)?? TIA and blessed ramadan-eid

      Salaam,
Sounds like a good idea. I don't know if its enough, but I don't have children and am not a qualified teacher.

        Salam

There's no issue with home schooling that could be fun. weekends while peers are at church/temple or during the week it depends what works best for you and your family schedule.

        What is the y.e.s ?

is the doctorate in divinity Christian related?

          I think she means this
          http//submission.org/YES/index.html

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

            salaam

my little sister goes to islamic classes to learn Quran, she does 2 hours on saturday and sunday and shes memorised alot of Quran so far. shes only 11 and is on the 5th juz so for your question about it being enough i think having lessons twice a week is more than enough for young children.

i would advise if you are able to home school them on islam you should. my sister in her classes has to memorise hadiths and special duas and is never taught the meaning of the Quran shes memorising, this has been the case in all madrassas we've been to. its frustrating and rather pointless. im sure you could do better, it would be a great time for you to bond with the kids and you'd be learning too. everyone wins ;D

Teach the quranic arabic, in a way that they could converse in it.

If you wanted to study each word of the quran properly, it'll take at least 20 years... which is about the same time as the prophet's messenge and the time it took to reveal the quran to the arabs.

Thanks for all your opinions. We hope inshaAllah to all go to a quranic arabic school to learn it. We have postponed any kind of extra schooling for now because we have a struggling student who needs alot of work as it is with academics. Maybe one day I will homeschool or do a weekend school for Submission-Quran Islam with the kids but for now we trying to get things together inshaAllah.
