Mubahalah Practice
-
Peace,
I'm still new at this... but what does Al-Qur'an actually say about mubahalah?
I mean... how do we practice it based on Al-Qur'an only?
Because... just by Surah 3 Verse 61, there's not much to go...
In my Sunni environment, the 'big bearded guys' dictate all the details.
Please help?Regards,

Sahih Bukhari
Volume 5, Book 59, Number 663Narrated Hudhaifa
Al-'Aqib and Saiyid, the rulers of Najran, came to Allah's Apostle with the intention of doing Lian/Mubahala one of them said to the other, "Do not do (this Lian) for, by Allah, if he is a Prophet and we do this Lian, neither we, nor our offspring after us will be successful." Then both of them said (to the Prophet ), "We will give what you should ask but you should send a trustworthy man with us, and do not send any person with us but an honest one." The Prophet said, "I will send an honest man who Is really trustworthy." Then every one of the companions of Allah's Apostle wished to be that one. Then the Prophet said, "Get up, O Abu 'Ubaida bin Al-Jarrah." When he got up, Allah's Apostle said, "This is the Trustworthy man of this (Muslim) nation."

Peace,
@Badr thanks, didn't know it before... does this mean mubahalah isn't supported by Al-Qur'an?
@afridi220 yes, exactly. that is one of the hadits that is usually repeated by my ulamas.
so, in your opinion, Al-Qur'an does not support the practice of mubahalah?Regards,

e.eThe prophet Muhammad invited the christians to make mubahala and they refused, obviously they are aware of his prophethood. So if the prophet did it (or was ready to do it) it is doeable.

Peace,
@afridi220 yes, most of what I know or have been thought is from hadits.
That's why I want to know whether there are practical approaches of mubahalah in Al-Qur'an.
So far, I've not found such explanations.
Probably the practice is left to us?Regards,

"Then whoever argues with you about it after knowledge has come to you - say, "Come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves, then supplicate earnestly and invoke the curse of Allah upon the liars ." (361)
This is not hadeeth.
