Salaams and hellos.
I am new here though I'm lurking in the forums for weeks already. I found some very nice and educational stuff in here, which helped me to widen up my knowledge, alhamdulillah ). I came across this forums while looking for "anti hadith" texts, since I started to doubt them not long time ago. I was sunni Muslim btw. While looking for cons and pros of hadith I found much more "evidence" contra them and it was kind of easy for me to "convert" to this new view of Islam (new for me at least).
Now, after my "conversion" or enlightenment, how I like to call it, I got impression that some of the so called Quraanites give so little credit to Prophet Muhammad saws and I was wondering why. I'm not sure about that so I would like to hear from you guys why is that some of you call him a mere human when he obviously was not (same with the rest of the messengers).

What we say about Muhammad is what Allah says about him in the quran. So you need to ask yourself, does Allah give "so little credit" to Prophet Muhammad? Do you agree with what the quran says about the Prophet?

Prophet Muhammad was a mere human. So were the other messengers. Believing anything more than this is dangerous.

We're only following the book he was sent with. What kinda 'credit' do you seek?? If we didn't give him so much credit, we wouldn't be following his book now would we?
The Quran is clear on the subject... The messenger was instructed to say
18110 Say "I am but a human being like you, being inspired that your god is One god. So whoever looks forward to meeting his Lord, then let him do good works and not set-up any partner in the service of his Lord.
416 Say "I am no more than a human being like you, who is being inspired that your god is one god, therefore you shall be upright towards Him and ask His forgiveness. And woe to those who set up partners."
Muhammad was a great man, no denying that. I don't think anyone here would deny this, but the fact is he was only a man. A man who also made mistakes just like the other messengers.

I believe part of the problem is that if you are used to Traditional Islam and their extremely high praise of prophet Muhammad, any lessening of this you might find odd.
As has been said, people here tend to give him due credit, within Quranic limits, that's all.
It could even be argued, with the amount of discussion and study of the book he delivered being done here, we praise him very highly but in a different way.

Like to echo what Jack and Wakas said.
More to the point, though why the focus on personalities? Really, think about it. What causes religious conflict in the world? It's never about God, per se. It's about Jesus's God, or Muhammad's God, or Moses's God, etc. (and it's surely not even about that, but rather what later 'adherents' THINK about Jesus's God or Muhammad's God, etc. but that's another discussion altogether).
Why do these personalities matter? They were great, no doubt. But they were human. Vehicles. For what? God.
Can you really go wrong if you ONLY focus on God? Really think about that hard. Can you imagine a scenario where you'll be questioned someday by God "why did you only focus on serving Me?" Does that sound reasonable?

1736 And do not uphold what you have no knowledge of. For the hearing, eyesight, and heart, all these you are responsible for.Regarding prophet/messenger Muhammad
320 - If they argue with you, then say, "I have simply submitted myself to GOD; I and those who follow me." You shall proclaim to those who received the scripture, as well as those who did not, "Would you submit?" If they submit, then they have been guided, but if they turn away, your sole mission is to deliver this message. GOD is Seer of all people.
1682 - If they still turn away, then your sole mission is the clear delivery (of the message).
There are few more verses but I'd prefer if you locate them in The Qur'an to really obey 1736.

May I ask what changed your thinking and how you came to this decision?Read 2.253 Such messengers, We have preferred some over others; some of them talked to God, and He raised some of them in rank, and We gave Jesus son of Mary the proofs and We supported him with the holy spirit. And had God wished, the people after them would not have fought after the proofs had come to them, but they disputed, some of them believed and some of them disbelieved. Had God wished they would not have fought, but God does whatever He wishes.
3.84 Say "We believe in God and what was sent down to us and what was sent down to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Patriarchs, and what was given to Moses and Jesus and the prophets from their Lord. We do not make any distinction between them, and to Him we surrender."
So as you can see Allah swt is telling us to not seperate His Prophets into different groups according to their characteristics. Allah swt is also saying do not honour one prophet more than the other, or award one prophet with more excellance. Be equal in your love of them as they all had an important part to play in conveying the message.

Hi, salam, I was like you, I was hating everyone here, debating with people i was sure they're ashtray, if you see my early posts, u mlght find me arguing with wakas and alen and aysha and all, than i wasn't arguing with them just because of sunna, i really was honest and thaught they were wrong, but than, i was sncer in my debate, and when they say something that makes sense , i ask the same question on myself, should I lie to myself and become arrogant, than Baaaa I realise they were right all the way , and i was wrong all the way but i couldn't see it that's all

Unless i see clearly that the Quran contradicts itself and the quran makes no sense, and i am sure i will never find a thing like that because many people study the quran way before me and i believe they're sincere because they ask questions about god and the quran that no sunni or shii dare to ask, that what made people who follow the quran only so confident in their debates with any sect in the world, no sect can defeat the quran alone in any debate

This is more than clear, are you going to twist it again to make it suit your theories ?
Also, when you make shahada (la ilaha illa allah, mohammed rasool allah) you witness that Muhammad is THE MESSENGER OF ALLAH not his son and not God himself like christians do (Chrisitians and jews admit that theres no God but God too so you make the statement to admit that you follow islam as brought but Muhammad the messenger of God).
Also You witness that Muhammad is THE MESSENGER OF ALLAH not his son and not God himself like christians do.

Well sister, my classmate changed my views on Islam. He held an opinion that hadith are not important part of Islam. When I first heard that I went insane, lol, in a way "How dare you to say such thing". But since he was pretty smart and nice guy and I respected him very much because of the knowledge he would show in classes he made me curious. What was it that made him think that way? I started to hang out with him more often and he would talk about the issue. I was skeptic but I had to admit to myself that he made sense.
If I were allowed to say I have a favourite prophet I would say it was Jesus. I spent lot of time reading his biography and stuff, I was waiting for his second coming (not literally but I believed it) but when I shared my "fascination" with my classmate he laughed at me. He informed that there is no second coming of Jesus in Qur'an! Since I always read Qur'an in English, Yusuf Ali translation, I gave him ayah 4361 and he said that Yusuf Ali translation is made to fit hadith and "Jesus" in brackets is not proper translation therefore there's not evidence in Qur'an about his second coming. I didn't believe him. I came home and checked for myself and Voila!!! he was right. The funny or sad thing is that translation in my native language doesn't mention Jesus either. My whole world fell apart, lol (joke). After some research I was convinced hadith are not to be taken as a religious and spiritual authority. What made me extremely happy is that rejecting all those hadith rules I was left with much more time to think about how God is great and following Qur'an alone brightened my life.

Hmm, I know he was a mere human, in a way that he had needs to eat, sleep, drink, he bled.....and he died. That makes him mere mortal, of course like we are, but I was thinking about him being way more spiritually rich than us and dearer to God. After all, God chose him as his messenger and gave him Qur'an.

I think the main reasons you will find there is no special treatement for Mohammed or any other messenger are
- Muslims are forbidden from making a preference/disctinction amongst the messengers;
- Muslims are aware that the only true Lord worthy of praise and worship is God - Blessed be His name. Therefore most here have long since moved on from focussing on the messengers and have instead learned to focus on the source.
As for your question on Salat. What I have found in the Quran is 3 Salat times with quite a lot of detail (how, when, form, subtance, etc.).
