    SAS ya Jama'a,

I have only just joined this site recently but have been a Quran only Muslim for awhile.

I love the site, in fact I love many of the Quran only sites. It seems the more a read and research the stronger my conviction that the Ahadith and the sunnah are not more than hundreds of adept lies designed to deceive.

I often wonder at what stage did we, as believers get so off the path and let so much corruption happen.

But then again i also wonder the same about mankind in general, we have become so far removed from everything that was good for us, the very existence that made us appreciate everything.

    Anyway....alittle about me

I was born in the Middle East to western parents and converted to Sunni Islam at the age 12.

Later when I was age 18 I left the Middle East and went to Europe to study, it was there that I changed who I was and saw a very different way of life, got quite off track with Islam became far away from my Creator.

Later I moved to Australia and joined the military there, whilst stationed in a particuliar place in the military I met my then wife, a true blue fair dinkum Aussie girl.

At that time had returned to Sunnism, and actually considered myself quite a religious and enlightened person. lol.

I was even a stand in Imam at the local mosque, I guess I was one of the very few Arabic speaking muslims there, so I won the title by default, lol.

My then wife converted to " Islam " and we travelled to Sydney and were married in a wahabi mosque.lol.

Poor girl, that day was actually an ordeal for both of us.lol - nothing quite says backward religious psycho as wahabism.

However, later it was my wife that came to question many of the ideas and concepts I had been taught at school and as young convert. Ah such blind adherence.

I will never forget the day she began to question, I actually thought God almighty was gonna strike us down there and then! lol

Time went by and many trials and tribulations along the way, being "muslim" in the military was the hard enough but to be a Quran alone muslim, hadith rejecter made it just about dam near impossible to maintain friendships with old friends, sadly I lost many along the way.

Funny how religious belief and conviction tears old friends apart.

Anyway many years later, I still feel the way I do, and still believe that the Quran alone is the true Islam. And so with all that has happened in my life up to this point, trust me there have been some major changes, I feel now it is important more than ever to find Sirat AL Mustaqeem as my creator, God all mighty
    has commanded.

    Sadduk Allahoo Al Atheem.

Thank you all for your warm welcome.

Well San to be truthful I am currently divorced, my wife of 8.5 years left me and became a lesbian. She had fallen in love with a another women.

It was incredibly difficult to understand at the time but somehow I have managed to put it behind me and as they say time heals all wounds.

            Sister Ozi Kristi Lee,

All I can say is well done for getting your husband to see past the rigid, stale blind sheep like mentality that is so common of muslims today in Islam.

He is truly blessed for having a wife like you. I am sure none of what you have achieved has come easily. I know from my own situation what it has cost me.

              Salaam, Abu Zuuti!

That sounds like quite a journey.

What you wrote about Siraat al Mustaqeem resonated within me. It is not an easy thing, but a necessary thing. May God help us.

I have dabbled with sunnism too, but I don't think I ever went as far as you in that regard. I have strayed plenty, but perhaps not so far as you in that particular direction. Regardless, many of us have a sunni past. Unfortunately theirs appear the default position for many converts, and they can appeal to authority and majority which is tempting for the weak, as we all are from time to time. God willing we can learn, and be patient with ourselves, and receive God's mercy and truth.

I too have some army experience, I assume not nearly as much as you - I spent 15 long months as a conscript in the Swedish army some 10 years ago crewing armor. I guess you could call me "sergeant", but I would rather you call me "brother".

              welcome

                        Thank you for your welcome.

                        Melbourne, the big smoke bro!

I haven't been there in years. Is it still the rat race that I remember it to be?

Well I suppose any city is now a rat race for me. I have just moved to Perth after I got out of the military. Before then I was stationed in a tiny town in the Northern Territory called Katherine and am finding Perth to be the big smoke.lol.

                        Salaam.

                              Asalaamu alaykum,

Awesome story and conviction bro. I myself spent time in sunnism and wahhabism before I embraced philosophy as my path ... The Mutazilah path was the original Quran only perspective which launched what the west describes as the golden age of Islam. I also mingled with Progressive Muslims (aka Muslims for Progressive Values), studied the opinions of Muslim feminism - Irshad Manji, Asra Naumani, Aminah Wadud and sat in Sufi circles. I found that Quran only and Mutazilah Islam fit with me. Stay in touch and visit often.

I am so glad for you that your husband now also is became critical over the hadiths.... Mashallah!
Really I am lucky that my muslim-friends who bring me to Islam are also 'critical' even if they still label themselves as 'sunni' but they always point my attention to the Quran first and check everything with the Quran.
