    Peace,
I am new and maybe I have missed a post on this from the past, but I haven't seen it, so I'm asking two questions

    1. Is there an article here or elsewhere that gives a broken down, general guideline to salat (not Sunni or Shia, please)?

    2. How do YOU do salat? This is a personal question, and if you would please share that with me, I'd appreciate it.

I am just trying to figure this all out and would like some examples and some friendly advice/thoughts/discussion. Please!

    Peace!
    sun

      Welcome to the forum! &nbsp

You should read the following articles, which are about the concept of "salat"

      http//mypercept.co.uk/articles/slw.htm
      http//www.mypercept.co.uk/articles/disproved_traditional_salat.htm
      http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=11539.0
      http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=7727.0

As for the timing, the Quran asks the believers (mumineen) to perform the "salat" 2 times per day - at dawn and at sunset.

There used to be a stickied thread with a compilation of "salat"-related links, but it seems to be gone.

I am no longer a Sunna-rejecter. See 4:59-65, 62:2-4, 3:31, 4:156, 7:157 Messenger teaches and is to be followed and obeyed. Examples of revelation received which is not in the Qur'an: 3:123-126, 33:37, 2:187, 66:3, 62:9.

        Welcome to the forum.

There is varying views about salat in this forum. Most long-term members regard it as a minimum of two salat daily (for the mumineen), and they do not see it as the Traditional Muslim prayer.

From my recent studies, there does seem to be reasonable evidence there was no set format for the regular/timed/scheduled salat, hence the significant variation noted in early Islam sources. This is no bad thing in my book.

The compilation thread can be found here http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9598319.0

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.
