Then the concept of salat needs no further expounding. It is "mindfulness", the art of paying attention to the present moment. There is no need to say "how do I perform salat" because this is innate. Hence it would be clear as to why al-quran leaves out any idea of any method, because there simply is none. Does anyone need a guide on how to pay attention to what is going on? It is merely a process of questioning. Am I doing anything wrong? What does my body tell me it needs right now? What could I do that would most please my creator right now?

If salat is so, then all salat entails is that you still your mind for some time and listen to that quiet guiding inner voice.

Instead we all flock to this other simple minded distraction 5 times a day and once we have performed our robotic "mindlessness meditation", we have been freed from our obligation to our creator (HOORAY) until maghrib. I have a better idea folks, if this concept of rushing to do something utterly useless in timed intervals characterised by a sense of relief after each repetition and a sense of foreboding thinking about the next is so appealing, why not take up smoking?

I also have news for you, you are never free from obligation to your creator. The disease prevalent in the majority is that the scholars have conditioned us, thrown all manner of obscene and ludicrous rituals and sayings at us that serving the creator is now felt to be a painful daily chore. A computer does not suffer when it computes, neither should a servant suffer when it serves, not least when it serves the creator of all. Suffering comes when you shift your allegiance from your true lord to the idols other idiots have set up for you. It should be understood that an action which truly serves the creator of all will always feel fluid, correct and immensely pleasurable when it is not a sacrifice.

Of course, using the interpretation of salat = upholding the connection leaves one question; why does one need wudu to do this? Also, where does reciting quran come into this?

I see it differently, salat is very detailed in sourah 17 , it's times1779 , it's position,17107 how to recite the quran17110, what to recite wile prostrating17108
very detailed in one sourah, and it's repeated elswhere, many times, just like the times of salat are repeated
      wudu 56 ,
      standing prostrating 2564 , 399
      reciting standing 732-4 , 3215
      prostrating, praising 3215 , 7626,

very detailed though and repeated everywhere, the only problem is people keep looking for salat sounni or shia style, and they don't realise there was too many innovations and additions to it .
salat is simple, in a primitive way, even a baby can understand standing prostrating, without manuels, but sects like to complicate things because they need jobs for ulemas

        Salaam,

Of course, using the interpretation of salat = upholding the connection leaves one question; why does one need wudu to do this?

        56

56 O you who believe, if you rise to hold the contact prayer, then wash your faces and your hands up to the elbows, and wipe your heads and your feet to the ankles; and if you have had intercourse, then you shall bathe. And if you are ill, or traveling, or you have excreted feces, or you have had sexual contact with the women, and you cannot not find water, then you shall select from the clean soil; you shall wipe your faces and your hands with it. Allah does not want to place any hardship on you, but He wants to cleanse you and to complete His blessings upon you that you may be thankful.

Also, where does reciting quran come into this?

        nope

May Allah guide us all towards the truth pr

If that is so true then you are well aware that those who call themselves Jews/Christians do not pray anything like the "traditional" way. And also there is a verse in surah 107, which I'm sure you know of that rebukes those who perform salat but are heedless of their salat. People who call the judgement a lie do NOT heedlessly stand up and down absent mindedly 5 times a day, please get real. Unless perhaps it simply means that the hypocritical muslims who do not really believe in judgement but go to the mosque anyway are doomed. Also 17108 has nothing to do with salat dude. Trying to extract a ritual salat from al-quran is harder than extracting blood from a stone.

MMKhan Thanks, I should have known that the answer was in the verse itself. As for your nope, think about it. What I am saying is that "qur'an" has perhaps a bit more depth to it than we care to admit. The idea of "qur'an" being this book comes from the whole philosophy of leaving parts of the book untranslated/as proper nouns when the context clearly isn't deserving. When AQ refers to itself there is always a statement of THIS quran, not any other. Yet in other verses such as 552 it does not say that and clearly the context of that chapter alludes to something else.

May Allah guide us all towards the truth

          Exactly so

          Peace!

            Salaam and welcome OPF,

Brother it is not as you said that AlQuraan is always refers itself with THIS QURAAN, but it always refers to it with Al+Quraan and some places only Quraan is used that is not referring to it.

Oh yeah, in 552 it is also Al + Quraan. )

And remember brother, Allah said "...unzila fihi AlQuraan, hudal linnaas..." 2185 that means "...AlQuraan is sent down in it, guidance for mankind..."

Note AlQuraan in 2185 is also WITHOUT "Haaza "

So, when it is a guidance for mankind does not mean that "It is harder to extract blood from stone"

I'm reviewing all that I studied, i noticed I figured many things wrong, specially after a while in this forum, I will post what I understood of salat , to get corrected only, and there is a difficulty to extract a rituel from the quran, i believed in the begining that prophet mohamed was faught because he abolished rituels, and than i started to believe in 2 salats, morning and evening, I'm still believing in the 2 times, but I review inshallah my understanding of Standing and prostrating, and studying the quran

There is nothing to get confused bro.

I am sure you are getting confused at "Standing and Prostrating" with "Prostrating and Standing". If the words is swapped with each other, that means it is not referring to the same point. It is that simple. That has been done in purpose to tell you something else.

The aayaats that talks about "Standing and Prostrating" is more than enough to understand the message. Why are you looking at the other way to catch the same point bro?
